Please join me on this recent backpacking overnight to Fern Lake in the heart of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

During the 3.6 mile hike from the Fern Lake trailhead, you'll encounter Aspens growing along Big Thompson River, with the majestic Fern Falls about half way up.

As you get closer to the lake, huge swaths of burned timber from a 2020 wildfire are prevalent, but also have their own haunting beauty.

Once there, enjoy views of Notchtop Mountain, Little Matterhorn and Gabletop Mountain. It's a wonderful lake to visit since it's also close to Spruce Lake and Lake Odessa. Thanks for watching!

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in September. Oceans of sand colliding with majestic mountains. One of the most unique places I've visited.

From a recent hike to Lake Isabelle northwest of Nederland, CO.

Overcast for most of the day, but the intrinsic beauty of this place was apparent regardless of the light. Colors are popping at the higher elevations, so get out there and enjoy!

Join me on this overnight backpacking trip to Bighorn Lake in the Mount Zirkel Wilderness, Routt National Forest, Colorado.

The trail starts out winding through timber, slowly climbing, until the last half mile to the lake where it's a bit steeper. The lake is nestled among a beautiful 11,000 foot peak, which looks majestic in the first morning light.

Have fun exploring this area. There are several really nice dispersed camp spots both on the North and Southeast side of the lake. Thanks for watching!

Join me on this backpacking adventure to Lake Helene in the Rocky Mountain National Park, CO.

So many perspectives to explore once you hike the 3 miles to the lake, starting at Bear Lake. If you plan ahead, make a reservation to camp at Sourdough, a most excellent campsite (permits required).

Wonderful views of Odessa Lake, Notchtop Mountain, Knobtop Mountain and Little Matterhorn can be found as you make your way around the lake. So many compositions and vantage points are available if you're willing to scramble a bit across boulders and rock formations.

Don't miss this wonderful hike, and if you have enough steam, continue on for a mile to Odessa Lake for spectacular views of the peaks surrounding Lake Helene.

Put together a video (comment section) from my recent trip to the Rainbow Lakes in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, CO.

From old growth forest, to several small lakes, to boulders and vistas of surrounding peaks, it was a joy to explore.

Backpacking permits are required for overnight stays, but it's an easy hike to the lakes (about a mile), so getting there for a quick day trip is doable. Each lake has it's own personality and vibe.

My favorite was the lake at the very western string of them, and is shown in the morning shots. Enjoy!
