This is the second time Andrea Truitt has written about my work. This time she writes of a larger project -- Homegrown Stories -- a project that my friend LeAnn Erickson and I founded in 2013.

This retrospective features work from 20 artists who have contributed to our project over the years. We had no idea of where it might lead, but both LeAnn and I are very happy that the project has grown over the past 13 years. Homegrown Stories - The Art of Moving Poetry - is traveling to various parts of the US.

Dave Moore and the Magic Dust concert at the The Englert Theatre on December 11, 2025 was exquisitely extraordinary! A top line-up on musicians, each choosing to play a song written by Dave Moore. Kind of brilliant! A HUGE Thank you to Jeffrey Foucault for organizing this herd of cool cats!

I was lucky enough to document the sound check and the concert on that special day. It was a goal of mine to be healed and ready....bc on Sept. 11th, I tripped and fell, breaking my left elbow, badly enough for surgery and months of OT. My OT man told me on Dec. 10th...that I had graduated!

Finally I have the works edited and now finally have selected a number of the photos from that special concert! I hope you will enjoy seeing the magic and imaging the Magic Dust that was in the air on December 11th, 2025.

Sandra L. Dyas is a visual artist living in Iowa City. Sandra received her MFA in Intermedia: Performance Art and Video from the University of Iowa in 1998.

Rewatching Roy Andersson films which are on the top of my list of favorite films. Read an interview with him today, saying Otto Dix's paintings are his inspiration to make films. The painting Otto Dix did of the poet/journalist Sylvia von Harden (love it) reminded me of a photograph -- yes! Same woman photographed by the great August Sander.
