I am very excited to announce my first art show in over four years! This month I'll be exhibiting my show Forces of Nature: A Visual Grimoire, a collection of 35mm film photographs, at HABA Salon as part of the Iowa City 2020 Downtown Fall Gallery Walk.

Forces of Nature: A Visual Grimoire is a collection of thirteen photographs intended to serve as a pictorial portal, transporting viewers to the liminal space that exists between nature and the supernatural.

New for Autumn 2020

HELLO FRIENDS it's been so long since I've posted anything on this page, mainly because I just can't with FB most of the time but that's a story for another day. Over at my 35mm Instagram feed (.frary) I've posted a couple images from a prairie burn I photographed last spring at Bur Oak Land Trust's Belgum Grove property south of Iowa City. It was a transcendent experience to witness and a profound lesson in how the earthly elements - Earth, Air, Fire, and Water - can all work together in harmony for the greater good. Here's my favorite photo of the bunch, a moment that filled me with both terror and awe. That wall of flame was intense but glorious. I'll never quite know how I managed to capture what I'm calling the Fire Serpent in the photograph: both fire and film are unpredictable, though I suppose that's the mysterious beauty I love most about 35mm analog photography. Each image remains a secret until it's developed and then sometimes you're left wondering "...how did I?..." 🌾🔥🌱

Hi everyone! It's been a minute. I've been busy quitting my day job and working on several new projects, including this petition to support non-lethal methods of deer management in Iowa City. As some of you may have heard, Iowa City is in talks to hire sharpshooters to kill deer in Iowa City parks and urban areas this winter. As a steward of nature and avid deer photographer, I know a balance can be achieved between humans and deer without killing. If you support non-lethal, non-violent methods of deer & wildlife management in Iowa City, please take a moment to read, sign, and share this petition. We're closing in on 500 signatures in just under a week, which is hugely inspiring! I greatly appreciate every ounce of support. Thank you for your consideration
