With prepping for This Is Home at , I know I won’t have as much time to edit and take on digital sessions. We’ll be in Indy a lot, and a perfect break could be creating with you.

“This is Home: Preserving Q***r Families In Indianapolis” will be on exhibit at Patina Gallery (2201 E. Michigan / ) from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th— the perfect way to end your Pride month festivities.

Presented by Jasmine and Brit Indwell of Jasmine Tafoya Photo “This is Home” is a deeply personal collection of immersive set design and visual storytelling - celebrating the everyday magic of q***r families living and thriving in Indianapolis.

Featuring six families, this body of work seeks to expand and challenge notions of what it means to be family, while bringing forward the representation the artists yearned for during their own q***r childhoods in Indianapolis.

PREVIEW NIGHT - ticketed family dinner with private early viewing (more details to come) - Wednesday, June 24th

OPENING - public opening of “THIS IS HOME” - Friday, June 26th - private participating family hour 5P-6P & public viewing 6P-9P

COMMUNITY DAY - exhibit open for viewing & Jasmine Tafoya Photo Family Portrait Pop-Up - Saturday, June 27th from 4P-8P (during Groovy Cat Market!)

CLOSING - Family Cookout in Afternoon (details to come, all welcome) with quieter gallery viewing opportunities - Sunday, June 28th

After our initial planned picnic got rained out, we were able to reschedule to the next day full of sunshine. ☀️

Lissa and Emma’s childhood friendship has blossomed over the years into a full family unit. Where “home” is anywhere they are with one another. Watching them catch up, laugh, joke, and play together was a treat in itself.

One the main pillars of our project “This is Home: Preserving Q***r Families in Indianapolis” was to challenge heteronormative, nuclear family units.

These beautiful humans have spent years and years of their young lives creating lasting bonds through found family. Small pods coming together to create big magic. A creation of communal support and love that expands even beyond these humans and these photos. ✨

Lil squish. 💚🦕

Sophie’s sister and her wife wanted to gift them a photo session for when their baby nephew arrived. It was so sweet getting to watch Sophie and Nathaniel soak up being with their son. I loved seeing their pup always nearby, keeping an eye on his baby brother and ensure family photos went smoothly.

In home newborn sessions are the way to go. Keep it easy, keep it familiar, keep it you. We can get all the little keepsakes by y’all just savoring this moment in your lives.

One of those sacred moments where my gratitude for my job extends beyond where I knew it could go — getting to create with these four wonderful souls and honor their family unit!

Adair, Delana, Jay, and Rosie are a participating family for This is Home! Their family formerly live in two sides of a duplex and late last year moved into a home that they all coexist in together. It’s so cool to witness everything their family has and are creating together! So, so thankful Adair applied last fall. 💗
