Hi, friends.

I know many of you have been seeing posts like this lately, especially within the photography community, and I wanted to take a moment to share where I stand.

Recently, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling involving the private possession of AI-generated content depicting fictional children. Regardless of the legal arguments surrounding the decision, it is something I simply cannot ignore.

Because of this, I have made the difficult decision to no longer publicly share the faces of children in the images I photograph. Over the next few days, I will also be going through my previously shared work and editing out the faces of children from photos posted across my social media.

To my clients, please know that you are always welcome to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

From day one, I have told my clients that I will never share an image they are not comfortable with, and that will continue to be true. Your children, your privacy, and your wishes will always be respected and protected within my business.

As a photographer who deeply cherishes the God-given talent and creativity I’ve been blessed with, this decision is difficult. I love sharing the beautiful moments and memories I’m trusted to capture for my families. But some things matter far more than social media, and protecting children is one of them.

As a mother and a survivor of s3xual abuse as a child, this hits incredibly close to home. I feel angry, heartbroken, and, honestly, disgusted that we even have to have conversations like this.

Our children deserve better.

We have to do better when it comes to protecting them—all of them.

Thank you for understanding, and more importantly, for continuing to trust me with your most precious people. I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. 🖤

Hi, friends! I hope your weekend is treating you well so far! ☀️

We just got back from Brown County after a quick weekend camping trip, and it was such a fun little getaway! I had a family session yesterday morning, and I have a beautiful elopement this evening that I’m SO excited to capture. 🤍

Also… can we talk about the response to my Christmas Minis?! 😭🎄 I literally have the BEST clients, friends, and family in my corner. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for always supporting me and my little business. Your love and encouragement mean more to me than you know! I love you guys so much! 🥹❤️

But today, I want to introduce you to Miss Adalynn and her sweet mama and daddy, Kaitlin & Dillon!

They were referred to me by one of my longtime, sweetest clients, and I’m SO incredibly glad our paths crossed! We had the most beautiful spring evening for their family session, and this little angel was an absolute dream. 🥹✨

I’ve said this a few times now, but I truly have been loving every minute of photographing these sweet babies, new parents, veteran parents, births, and growing families. It has genuinely been one of the highlights of my year, and I feel so incredibly honored that so many of you trust me to document these beautiful, fleeting seasons of life.

This precious girl is already so very loved by her mama and daddy, and it was such a joy getting to capture this little chapter of their lives.

Congratulations again, sweet friends! I’m so happy our paths crossed, and I can’t wait to watch this beautiful family grow!

✨🎄 CHRISTMAS MINI SESSIONS ARE HERE! 🎄✨

It’s officially time to start thinking about Christmas photos! ❤️ I’m so excited to offer two different Christmas Mini Session options this year, so you can choose the setting that feels most like you and your family.

Whether you’re dreaming of cozy photos surrounded by Christmas trees or beautiful, timeless portraits in a warm indoor studio, there’s an option for everyone!

🎄 OPTION ONE: CHRISTMAS TREE FARM MINIS

I’m so excited to be returning to Sambol’s Tree Farm in Fortville, Indiana for another season of Christmas Tree Farm Minis! These were such a favorite last year, and I can’t wait to see familiar faces and meet some new ones!

There’s just something extra magical about Christmas photos among the trees. ❤️🎄

Session Details:

• 📍 Location: Sambol’s Tree Farm | Fortville, IN
• ⏰ Session Length: 12 minutes
• 💰 Investment: $135
• 💵 Retainer: $65 to reserve your spot, applied toward your session balance
• 🎄 Simple, timeless Christmas setup
• 🍪 A special Christmas treat for every family

And if you've never visited Sambol’s before, I highly recommend making a trip back later in the season to pick out your family’s Christmas tree! We bought our very first real Christmas tree there last year, and it was hands-down the best tree we’ve ever had. ❤️ We’re already excited to go back and pick out another one this year!

✨ OPTION TWO: CHRISTMAS STUDIO MINIS
SOLD OUT!!

If an indoor setting is more your style, these are for you! Studio Loft 18 in downtown Fortville is still one of my absolute favorite places to photograph, and it will be beautifully decorated for Christmas.

The space is bright, warm, clean, and modern, creating a cozy backdrop for beautiful, timeless holiday portraits. ❤️

Session Details:

• 📍 Location: Studio Loft 18 | Downtown Fortville
• 💰 Investment: $150
• 💵 Retainer: $75 to reserve your spot, applied toward your session balance

• 🍪 A special Christmas treat for every family

🎟️ BOOK YOUR STUDIO SESSION:

Both options are perfect for:

🎄 Christmas cards
🎄 Updated family photos
🎄 Couples
🎄 Children
🎄 Capturing those sweet memories of this season

❤️ PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

Because these are limited, back-to-back mini sessions, Christmas Minis cannot be rescheduled.

If you’re unable to attend, your retainer can be applied toward a future mini session of your choice.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. If you arrive late, I will only be able to photograph you during the time remaining in your scheduled session so I can stay on schedule for the next family.

And because every family deserves a little Christmas treat! 🍪🎄 If anyone in your family has food allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know in advance so I can do my best to provide a suitable alternative.

✨ With limited availability, these sessions are expected to fill quickly! Whether you choose the magic of the Christmas trees or the cozy feel of the studio, I would absolutely love to capture your family this holiday season.

I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas with you and create beautiful memories you'll treasure for years to come! ❤️🎄✨

Hi, friends! Happy Wednesday!

First, a little apology for being so quiet over here! 🙈 It’s been about a month since I’ve shared anything, and while I’ve been a little behind on posting, I’ve been busy behind the camera capturing so many beautiful moments. I’m so excited to finally start sharing them with you!

I’ve had the absolute joy of working with the McDonald family for the past few years, and this time, we got to include someone extra special… Hazel. She is absolutely precious, and it was so sweet seeing her surrounded by so much love from the very beginning.

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to document these seasons of life for people I genuinely care about. I get to watch families grow, little ones change, and love multiply right in front of my camera.

McDonald family, thank you for continuing to trust me with these precious memories. I feel so incredibly blessed to call you friends and to have the honor of capturing your growing family through the years.

Welcome to the world, sweet Hazel. You are already so very loved. 🥹

Here’s to finally catching up on all the beautiful moments I’ve been so lucky to capture lately! 🖤

Hi, friends! Happy Monday!

Thank you for being patient with me as I catch up on sharing all of my spring weddings. I've been so excited to relive these beautiful days with you!

Today, I'm sharing Mr. + Mrs. Holcomb!

My sweet and incredibly talented friend at Hannie Designs Photography referred me to Karlie and Dylan, and I couldn't be more thankful she did. From the moment I met them for their engagement session in Batesville, I knew they were my kind of people.

Karlie is vibrant, beautiful, and the life of the party, while Dylan is her calm, steady, and equally fun counterpart. They balance each other so perfectly, and it's such a joy to witness the love they share.

Their May wedding day was absolutely beautiful. We had a little rain to work around that morning, but by the evening, everything came together perfectly. From first looks and their intimate church ceremony to the sweetest dances, the most entertaining cake cutting, and a packed dance floor, every moment was one to remember.

Karlie and Dylan, thank you for trusting me to capture such an incredible day. It was truly an honor to celebrate alongside you and your loved ones.

Wishing you both a lifetime filled with laughter, adventure, and a love that only grows stronger with each passing year. Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Holcomb! 🖤

H E L L O 🖤

I've been wanting to do a little reintroduction for a while now. If I'm being honest, I'm just not great at putting my own face out there. I'd much rather be sharing all of your beautiful faces. 😊

So, for those of you who are new here... hi! I'm Mindy, and I'm so happy you're here.

I'm based in Indianapolis, Indiana: Virginia born and Indiana raised. I'm a follower of Christ, and before that scares anyone away, I want you to know this: no matter who you are, what you believe, or what your story looks like, you are welcome here. My hope is that this page is a place where everyone feels seen, valued, loved, and safe.

I'm married to my middle school/high school best friend, I'm a mama to two precious little girls, a proud cat lady to Wally, and the heart behind Mindy Whetsel Photography.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll usually find me with a cup of coffee (or a glass of good red wine 🍷), reading a book, traveling whenever I get the chance (the Outer Banks has my heart!), baking, and obsessing over black cats.

Before photography became my career, I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Public Health and later earned my Master of Education from Colorado State University. I worked in that field for a while after graduating, but God had different plans for my life…and I'm so thankful He did.

I've loved photography for as long as I can remember, but it became a serious hobby around 2013. Since then, I've photographed everything from landscapes and pets to weddings, births, families, and just about everything in between.

For years, people encouraged me to start a business, but I never felt good enough. Also, life was lifing...

We moved across the country three different times, started new jobs, walked through infertility, were blessed with our girls, bought a home, and experienced both incredible joy and heartbreaking loss. Life was beautiful, messy, and full all at once.

Then came 2020.

Like so many others, we were navigating the uncertainty and isolation of the pandemic. But for our family, that season carried a lot of heartache. I lost my beautiful mother-in-law…who was so much more than an in-law; she was like a mom to me. Around that same time, we also lost a baby through miscarriage.

It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. Somewhere in the middle of all that grief, fear, and uncertainty, I lost a piece of myself.

That season changed me. It reminded me that life is far too short to spend it wondering, "What if?"

Now, this would be the part of the story where I tell you I immediately started my business and everything took off...

Except that's not what happened.

I still let fear win. I still questioned myself. I still believed the lie that I wasn't talented enough.

Then, in February of 2023, something shifted.

I can't fully explain it, but I felt the Lord continually whispering, "Start. Go. Now."

Every excuse I had suddenly felt smaller than the calling I couldn't ignore anymore.

So I started.

Fast forward to today, and the Lord has grown Mindy Whetsel Photography into something I could have never built on my own.

YOU helped build this, too.

Whether you've booked a session, shared a post, left a review, recommended me to a friend, liked a photo, or simply encouraged me along the way—you've been part of this journey, and I am so incredibly grateful.

The truth is, not every day is easy.

A few days ago, I shared that I've been feeling a little discouraged lately. Wedding inquiries have been slower than I expected, and imposter syndrome has definitely tried to creep back in.

Then I remember who's writing my story.

Earlier this year, I prayed for more maternity, newborn, birth, and family sessions because my girls are growing up so fast, and I desperately wanted more time with them...but also those types of sessions are where my heart is. And little by little, God has filled my calendar with exactly those moments.

Looking back, I can see He knew what I needed long before I did.
Photography is what I do, but it isn't who I am.

My identity isn't found in how many weddings I book, how many followers I have, or how successful my business becomes.

My identity is found in Christ.

Behind this camera is simply a human being.

A wife who loves her husband deeply.

A mom who is often overstimulated, constantly learning, healing, and trying her very best to raise two girls who know they are deeply loved and capable of doing anything they set their minds to.

Someone who is still growing, still learning, and still trusting that God knows exactly what He's doing.

If this business grows, I'll praise Him.

If it slows down, I'll trust Him.

Because He hasn't failed me yet.

If you've made it this far, thank you.

Whether you're a longtime client, a new follower, or someone who's simply cheering me on from afar, I'm so grateful you're here.

I hope we get the chance to create something beautiful together someday. 🖤

Hi, friends! How's everyone's week going so far?

I hope it's been a good one and that you're all feeling productive! It's been a busy week over here! 🙌

Today, I'm so excited to share my sweet friends, Mr. + Mrs. Meranda! 🤍

I remember meeting Jordan and Mason last summer, and the three of us clicked instantly. They are some of the most genuine, fun-loving, and down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. Their wedding day at The Barn at SilverStone Farm was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by the people who love them most.

The day began with gorgeous sunshine and ended with a little rain (which, let's be honest, isn't usually a photographer's favorite 😅), but these two never let it steal a single moment of joy. And let me tell you... beautiful Jordan endured so much leading up to her wedding day. After everything she walked through, seeing her smile, laugh, and soak in every moment made the day even more meaningful. They embraced every part of the day, rolled with whatever came their way, and together we created some truly beautiful memories.

I'm so grateful God allowed our paths to cross. It has been such a joy getting to know Jordan and Mason, and I can't wait to see all that the future holds for them. Love these two so much!

Congratulations again, Mr. + Mrs. Meranda! Thank you for trusting me to capture one of the most important days of your lives.

M A T E R N I T Y

Yay for the weekend!

It's a hot one here in Indiana, so I hope everyone is staying hydrated, finding a little shade, and chasing some joy today. ☀️

I've been busy editing galleries and getting ready for more sessions (thank goodness for studio sessions in this heat! 🙌).

A quick scheduling update: I am officially fully booked for July and August! I have a few openings in September and a good amount of availability in October—for now! Fall is always my busiest season, so if you've been thinking about booking a fall session, now is the time!

Today I wanted to share this beautiful maternity session featuring my sweet friend Kathryn and her family.

Kathryn is one of my favorite people in the entire world (and one of my girls' favorite people, too!). She radiates kindness, joy, and love everywhere she goes. She and her husband, John, are incredible parents to their Spidey-loving little guy, Wyatt, and I have no doubt baby Walker is about to be welcomed into the same unconditional love.

Can I be a little vulnerable for a minute?

Lately, I've found myself feeling discouraged. It's funny how imposter syndrome can still sneak in, even after years of doing something you love.

Then yesterday, I was reminded of a prayer I prayed at the beginning of this year. I asked God for a slower season filled with more family, maternity, newborn, and birth sessions—more opportunities to document the quiet, meaningful moments of growing families.

And He answered that prayer.

Not only has He filled my calendar with exactly those sessions, but He's also introduced me to some of the most incredible moms and families. Many of you have become friends, and I truly don't take that for granted.

Thank you for trusting me with your biggest milestones and your most precious memories. It is such an honor to tell your stories.

The countdown is officially on until sweet Walker makes his grand entrance! 💙 Congratulations, Borowy family—I can't wait to meet your newest little love.

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

We spent ours celebrating our sweet girl's 4th birthday, and wow... time really does fly. Looking back on my own pregnancy, labor, and birth with her still brings up so many emotions.

With permission, I wanted to share a few images from my very first home birth session.

I met Jade at a birthday party, and we instantly clicked. She's one of those people whose kindness radiates from the inside out. At some point during the party, my friend mentioned that I was a photographer, and Jade asked, "Would you want to photograph my birth?"

Little did she know, I had been praying for an opportunity like that. My answer was an immediate YES.

Early in the morning, the day before Mother's Day, I got the call that Jade was in labor and that baby would be making their arrival soon. I grabbed my gear and raced over, not knowing I was about to witness one of the most beautiful and sacred moments of my career.

Watching Jade and her partner, Nick, together was incredible. The way he loved, encouraged, and supported her through every moment was something I'll never forget. I found myself behind the camera with tears streaming down my face.

A little while later, their sweet baby made their entrance into the world, and everyone eagerly waited to find out if they had welcomed a little boy or a little girl. The moment they discovered they had a baby girl was so special. There wasn't a dry eye in the room... and I was definitely ugly crying.

Jade is an absolute rockstar, and I am still in awe of her strength. Moms are truly incredible, and it's amazing what our bodies are capable of. A huge shoutout to Brandi Wood for being such an incredible midwife throughout the journey.

Congratulations again Jade + Nick—and to baby girl's proud big brothers. Witnessing new life is one of the greatest privileges, and it's a beautiful reminder that God is so good. 🖤

✨ FALL SESSIONS ✨
Good morning, friends! Fall sessions are officially open! 🍂

If you’ve been thinking about booking fall photos, don’t wait too long — fall is always my busiest season, and spots tend to go quickly!

You guys filled up my spring + summer calendar so fast (thank you!), and because I know how much everyone loves fall photos, I wanted to open booking early this year to give families the best chance at getting a date that works for them.

To help accommodate as many clients as possible this season, I’ve even opened my Sundays back up! 🍁

I’ve also received so much positive feedback about stepping away from traditional mini sessions and taking the time to focus more intentionally on each individual family. Because of that, I’ve decided to continue offering full sessions only this fall — and honestly, I’ve loved being able to slow down and create a more personal, relaxed experience for everyone.

Here are the session options available this fall:
✨ 15-minute sessions
✨ 30-minute sessions
✨ 1-hour sessions

There’s never a limit on how many photos you receive, and you’ll get to choose your location (though I’m always happy to help with ideas!).

🍂 All fall sessions booked between September 1 – October 30, 2026 will receive 10% off.

Use code FALL26 when booking.

Book your session here before dates are gone:
https://book.usesession.com/i/AQhq1ojxL

Discount cannot be applied to previously booked sessions.

I truly can’t wait to capture these memories for your families this fall! 🖤📸
