Since we have lots of new followers, I thought it is a good time to introduce myself! I’m Jessica — the face, the heart, and the hands behind Jessica Lee Photography.

I’ve been a photographer for 15 years, and I still get butterflies before every single session. Because I know what’s at stake. Babies grow. Kids change. Families shift. And the window to capture this version of your people? It closes faster than any of us want to admit.

I’m based in Huntsville, Alabama, and I’ve spent a decade and a half photographing over 1,400 families who trusted me with something irreplaceable.

That’s not something I take lightly.

What I love most isn’t just the session — it’s the full experience of serving my families well. Walking them through every step, making sure nothing gets left to chance, and then watching their faces when they see their portraits for the first time.

There is nothing like placing a finished piece in someone’s hands. A heirloom album. A wall portrait that stops you in the hallway. Something real they can touch, hang, hold, and pass down. That moment never gets old.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m just a mom of three — chauffeuring children, figuring out dinner, and running on my morning cup of coffee. We have a golden who thinks he runs the house, and honestly he might. I love good conversation, trying new things in the kitchen, and getting away to somewhere new whenever I can.

Pretty ordinary life that I love. 💕

There’s something about coming back.

Same family. Another year. But everything has shifted just a little.

The change happens so quietly you almost miss it.
Until you see last year’s photo next to this one.
And then you feel it all at once.

This is what I tell every family after their first year ends.

Don’t stop here.

The chubby hands change.
The gap-toothed grins are temporary.
The way they still reach for you — that won’t last forever.

But this version of your family —
right now, in this season —
is worth remembering.

That’s why families come back every year.

Because your story isn’t finished. 🤍

I want to tell you why I do this work.

Not the editing, not the gear — this. The part where I sit with a woman in her most vulnerable, most sacred season and I ask her to trust me with it.

This mama has been on a journey. A long one. The kind that changes how you see everything — your body, time, hope itself.

When she stood in that light, I didn’t see a subject. I saw someone who earned every single curve, every sleepless night, every quiet prayer whispered into the dark.

That’s what maternity photography is really for.

Not just the pretty pictures (though — look at her 😭). It’s proof. It’s memory. It’s something you hand to your daughter someday and say: I wanted you so badly. Look how I waited for you.

Photos don’t just capture a moment.
They carry it forward.

To every mama on a long road: I see you. This is for you.

One of my favorite ways to honor the incredible moms in our community is to offer this Deserving Moms Giveaway.

Here’s the fun part: you can’t enter for yourself. This giveaway is all about nominating the moms who have inspired you-maybe it’s your best friend, your sister, your mom, your neighbor-the women you’ve seen pour their hearts into their families without ever asking for recognition.

We are partnering with for a bouquet of flowers, a gift card to E’toile Patisserie for coffee and pastries, and studio portrait session for a momma with her little ones including professional hair/makeup & access to our client wardrobe.

If someone immediately came to mind, here’s how you can nominate her:

Make sure you’re following both and

Tag the person(s) you’re nominating and tell us a little about her-why she’s amazing, what makes her stand out, or a memory that really captures who she is as a mom.

Share this post to your stories so others can join in too!

You can nominate as many moms as you’d like-l’d love to hear about all of them.

Giveaway closes Friday, May 16th at 10 AM, and I’l announce the winner that day!

Let’s lift each other up, friends.

Session will take place on a weekday during the month of June and cannot be exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for cash.

Most moms don’t realize how fast the first year actually goes… until they’re already in it.

You think you’ll remember the newborn stage—the tiny fingers, the way they curl into you, how they fit so perfectly in your arms. And you do… but not in the way you expect. The details fade faster than they should.

Then suddenly you’re at six months.
They’re laughing, reaching for you, showing you who they’re becoming. It feels like you finally caught your breath… and then it shifts again.

And before you know it, you’re planning a first birthday.

That’s why I created the First Year Collective.

Not because you need “more photos.”
But because this is the only year where everything changes—completely, beautifully, and all at once.

When you book sessions one at a time, it’s easy to skip one. Life gets busy. You tell yourself you’ll do it later. And later quietly turns into missed moments you can’t get back.

The First Year Collective takes that off your plate.
It ensures that no stage is missed—the brand new, the in-between, and the one-year celebration.

And more than that… it gives you a way to see the full story.

Not just a newborn photo.
Not just a cake smash.
But the transformation—from the way they fit in your arms… to the way they reach for your hand.

Because one day, this year will feel like a blur.

And these images will be what brings it all back.

There’s something about ten.

It’s not little, but it’s not grown either. It’s this quiet space in between—where bedtime routines still exist, but so do big opinions… where hands still reach for mine, but independence is starting to peek through.

Ten feels like confidence and curiosity.
Like laughter that’s a little louder and dreams that are getting bigger.
Like watching the little girl I once held slowly become her own person.

Love this sweet girl! 💕

There’s something quietly beautiful about photographing a family as they welcome their second baby.

This time, there are little hands waiting to hold the baby. A proud big sibling peeking over. A mother who knows how quickly these days disappear, and a father who understands just how fast tiny feet grow.

Through my lens, I see more than a new baby—I see a family story expanding. I see the moment a child becomes a big brother or sister. I see parents learning how love doesn’t divide, it multiplies.

These sessions aren’t just about documenting a newborn. They’re about preserving the beautiful shift of an entire family becoming something new again.

One day, these photographs will remind you not just of what your baby looked like—but of what it felt like to grow your family, your love, and your story.

Every family session should feel like you.

Connection over perfection. Hands reaching for each other. A child leaning in. A quiet moment that feels real, not rehearsed. The way your family actually exists together — the closeness, the laughter, the comfort.

You don’t need to stress. You don’t need to perform. You just show up and be present. I’ll take care of the rest.

Because years from now, what you’ll love most isn’t how everything looked — it’s how it felt
