I’ve been thinking…

Not everything valuable comes with a price tag.

Photography has opened doors I never expected, and lately I’ve been wondering what could happen if we traded value for value instead of dollars for hours.

So here’s my question:

What would you trade for a photo session?

I’m not just talking about stuff solely 😉

I’m talking about experiences.
A place I’ve never been.
A skill I don’t have.
An introduction to someone inspiring.
A weekend cabin.
A flight.
A handmade piece.
Printing services.
A business connection.
A behind-the-scenes opportunity.
Something that makes me better as a photographer or as a person.

The best trades aren’t equal because they cost the same.

They’re equal because both people walk away with something they genuinely value.

So…pitch me.

What’s something you’d be willing to trade that would make me say, “Let’s do it.” 👀 I’m checking those comments.

Nature’s pest control expert at work. 🕸️ This Yellow Garden Spider builds a web with a mysterious zigzag signature and unlike the mosquitoes she catches, I’m happy to stop and admire her craftsmanship. 🕷️✨

This morning’s nature walk.

Meet one of nature’s most talented web designers: the Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia). 🕸️

That zigzag running through the middle of her web isn’t bad construction. It’s called a stabilimentum, and scientists still debate its purpose. It may attract insects, warn birds to avoid crashing through the web, or help disguise the spider.

The good news? She’s on your side. These spiders spend their days catching mosquitoes, flies, and other annoying insects.

Moral of the story: if you see one in your garden, she’s not planning your demise… she’s just waiting for DoorDash to fly in. 😂🕷️

Objects on an Instagram feed are closer than it appears. I found my smile staring out of a window of a coffee shop in Tulsa, Ok. As light wraps this room, the light of those with me on this journey wraps my heart. Choose your focus. Gratitude will always improve your altitude.

My kids don’t ask to borrow my cameras anymore.

They ask which camera they get to bring.

That means more to me than any new lens or camera release.

I don’t know if they’ll become photographers.

But I hope they’ll always notice light.

I hope they’ll always stop long enough to see something worth remembering.

That’s what photography gave me.

When the unexpected unfolds, we rise to the occasion. The photographer was delayed, but capturing this wedding for my friends was an honor. A collection of images that reflect love, trust, and a moment I’ll never forget.

Self studio portraits.

Editorial and lifestyle portraits have always had my heart. It’s the kind of work that makes me slow down, experiment, and remember why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

I don’t get asked to create these images very often, so I’ve decided to stop waiting for opportunities and start making them for myself.

Joy is reason enough to create.

Maybe the photographs we need to make the most are the ones that remind us who we are.
