Halloween morning in the Columbia River Gorge 🎃
I captured this series of images from Underwood Mountain, Washington this morning.
It was incredible to be under, inside, and above the constantly changing clouds from moment to moment. What stunning beauty and light 🙌

Yesterday evening, just before it was completely dark, I finally had a quick opportunity to capture Mt Hood with it's first snowfall of the season ❄️ 🙌
It's been snowing up there for several days now, but the moments of clouds parting and visibility have been elusive to my camera 😅

After our last dismal winter with so little snow it's sure nice to see the mountains white again, hope it sticks around and there will be much more to come 🙏

On another note- see the purple lights scattered about town? I heard those are LED streetlights that have failed and need the bulbs replaced. Does anyone know more about this? Seems like there's quite a lot! 🤔

"American West" riverboat and Multnomah Falls - October 29, 2026
______

The American Cruise Lines "American West" formerly known as "Queen of the West" riverboat made it's way West down the Columbia River Gorge for one last time this evening! She’s a 31-year-old, Nichols Brothers Pacific Northwest built riverboat with three decades of Columbia & Snake River cruising history.
Apparently she'll make her way up to Alaska, where it'll be re-purposed as some kind of barge.

In high school, I actually worked on this riverboat for a short stint as a fill-in deckhand- washing decks, windows, all the grunt work 😅
Oh man did I enjoy those adventures on the water! Our good family friend Dale Orgain was the captain at the time and offered me the opportunity which I was so grateful for! Hard to remember the year, but I think it was 1999 or so. I had just discovered my love of photography and had a Nikon FA film camera, and a shiny new Tamron zoom lens I had scraped some money together to purchase! I'd love to dig through my archives and find those photos, all shot on slide film. Sounds like a good winter project to tackle 😄

I sure enjoyed chasing the American West down the Gorge on my motorcycle today and captured quite a lot of photos and videos I'll share in time.

Testing testing 1 2 3 🤔
My FB account was recently restricted but it appears to be working again 👏
The powers that be are taking away abilities to include links that take you off the FB platform.
All I did was respond to a comment in a group where someone kindly mentioned my work is for sale, and I included my website link 🫤
It said I was going to be restricted from posting until the end January but it appears Mr Zuck has thankfully changed his mind 😅
Anyway, wow what a crazy week of abrupt weather change!! From summery sunshine to rainy downpours in no time flat! Absolutely loving it 🙌
I wanted to share some abstract style images that highlight unique beauty of the shifting of seasons 🤩

First snowfall in our local mountains is always something I strive to capture! We've had some teases this season, but nothing has stuck yet. For now I'll share these first snowfall images of Mt Hood Oregon & Mt Adams Washington from October of 2022 ❄️ 🍂

October sunsets in the Gorge keep on delivering 🙌
Hope you're not getting tired of all these yet 😂
Last night sunset (October 19th) was an absolute showstopper! I was planning to do a moto ride then hike up a mountain- but our son Otis decided he wanted to join, so we switched plans and went to everyone's favorite spot, The Hook! He was excited to come along and was very patient as the after sunset "glow" seemed to last forever and I couldn't stop clicking away 📸

Sunset alignment season in the Gorge continues! I've been capturing it almost every evening from different places- usually moving a little more North as the sun sets further to the South for the best chances of sun alignment over the river. Every evening is different and full of surprises 🤩
Grateful for generous friends who have epic views and are willing to share them with me 🙏

Early October in the Columbia River Gorge- so much light and color! 🌞 Amongst the busy-ness of life it's been so fulfilling to get out each evening to seek out and capture the beauty 🙌 Sometimes on our boat, sometimes on the motorcycle, in a car, bike, onewheel, or just from home- there's beauty everywhere 🤩
