This is what a fully planned proposal experience looks like.

From scouting the location to planning the timing, the walk-in, the light, and how to keep it all a surprise… this is the part most people never see.

For this proposal at Hunting Island, we chose a secluded beach tucked behind a 10-minute walk through the most beautiful natural landscape. Quiet. Ethereal.

Completely worth it.

And she showed up in a gorgeous dress and high heels like an absolute icon. Not one complaint. Not one hesitation. Just pure excitement walking toward the moment that would change her life.

That’s why I always say the best proposals are personal. Know your partner and what would be perfect for you both.

Some couples would love the adventure of a hidden beach walk. Others would want something effortless and elegant. The key is knowing your partner deeply enough to create a moment that feels like them.

I help guide all of it:
• location scouting
• logistics + timing
• keeping the surprise intact
• creating a proposal experience that feels natural and intentional

And in case you were wondering…
It was an absolute yes. 💍

They wanted The Notebook. Just without the rain.

So we built it.

Cypress trees, still water, a quiet boat, and the kind of connection you don’t have to pose.

This is what happens when you bring a clear vision and trust the process.
A few quick tips if you’re planning your own session:
• Start with a feeling, not a pose
• Choose a location that does the heavy lifting
• Keep movement simple and natural
• Trust your photographer to guide, not stage

August can’t come soon enough for this sweet couple’s wedding.

Ahem😳Also, add to your photographer check list “upper body strength” and “can balance while shooting in a boat” Not optional.

Most couples don’t realize this until it’s too late.

A beautiful feed does not equal a strong full gallery.

When you’re choosing your photographer, don’t stop at what looks good on Instagram. That’s the highlight reel. Your wedding is everything in between.

Save this and use it when you start reaching out:
• Ask to see 2 to 3 full galleries
You want to see a full day, start to finish. Not just the best images.
• Look for range
Candid moments, clean family portraits, strong details, and a well-covered reception.
• Check low light work
If they can’t handle a dark reception, you will feel it in your final gallery.
• Notice how people look
Natural, connected, and comfortable. Not stiff or over-posed.
• Pay attention to details
Your design choices should be documented with care, not rushed.
• Ask how they direct
You want guidance when you need it and space when you don’t.
• Look for consistency
Not one great wedding. Every wedding.
You deserve photos that feel like your day, not just a trend.

If you’re in the middle of planning and want a full gallery experience, you can reach out anytime.

Here’s the truth most couples don’t hear: rain does not ruin weddings. Stress does.

As a wedding photographer serving Hilton Head, Bluffton, Charleston, and destination East Coast weddings, I can tell you this: rain does not ruin wedding photography.
In fact, overcast skies create soft, flattering light that photographers love. Rainy wedding days often produce the most romantic, emotional, and timeless wedding portraits. Think movement, reflection, depth — and moments that feel honest instead of posed.
The key to beautiful rainy wedding photos isn’t sunshine.
It’s preparation.
It’s experience.
It’s staying present instead of spiraling.
If you’re wondering what happens if it rains on your wedding day, I wrote a full blog post breaking down exactly how to prepare, what to expect, and how to still get stunning wedding images.
Read it at the link in bio.
Because your marriage matters more than the meteorology. ✨

PSA to anyone proposing…. (In my experience) They ALWAYS say YES!!

And… sometimes.. they’ve been waiting AGES for you to ask.

And exhale.

Every bride brings something new to the day—
a quiet confidence, an electric joy, a grounded calm.

There is no formula for photographing that.

My approach is simple:
observe first, guide gently, and allow space
for what’s already beautiful to reveal itself.
