A sweet wedding with the sweetest people!

Sometimes it’s hard for me to write a caption for previews like this. There’s so many details and pieces I could talk about from a wedding that it gets a little overwhelming, but this one is worth the read and got me a little emotional writing it. (Scroll down to read it all)

In talking with Kami and her bridesmaids, I learned that they are all very intentional and deep people. Suddenly the whole picture of the wedding day came together, and I realized why Kami and I quickly became friends.
Kami planned her wedding not to fit into a trend or look magazine worthy (although it certainly does). She planned this day around her family’s legacy and the part she and Alec get to play in it.
While many brides tell me they dream of stunning bridal portraits, Kami told me she wanted photos of the hands and rings of the women on each side of the family.
Kami’s mom shared with me that ever since Kami was a little girl, she wanted buttons all the way down her dress. How sweet it was to see that dream become reality.
I watched her mom put the very earrings she wore to her own wedding onto Kami. Alec’s mom placed a family ring on her hand. A chair at the ceremony was reserved for the loved ones who are no longer with us. Fabric from her grandmother’s wedding dress lined her card basket, and during the ceremony, their families had the opportunity to bless the wedding rings. These are just a few of the intentional details I caught, but I’m sure Kami could tell you many more.
In a world of trying to throw the most stand-out wedding, the best and most beautiful weddings to me are the ones that have meaning.
Taking in Kami’s intentionality reminds me of my own wedding. I know it doesn’t hold up to Pinterest, but I loved my intentional details - the bridal gown display of mine and Daniel’s family wedding dresses, the empty chair and poem for deceased loved ones, to the family rings tied to my bouquet. My mom’s dress was a replica of what her own mom wore to her wedding, our ring bearers who were two really special people to us that had no idea they were going to be ring bearers, and so much more. What an honor it is to have such wonderful people in your life that they get to be woven into the day in more ways than just their presence.
