Okay friends, let’s have a little photographer-to-client chat. 😂📸
I’ve had several soon-to-be clients ask me about this lately, so I figured I’d make a little information post!
Retainers paid toward sessions are non-refundable.
When you book a session with me, that date and time are officially taken off my calendar and reserved specifically for YOU. That means I’m no longer offering that spot to anyone else who may have wanted it.
The retainer is there for two reasons:
✨ To make sure you’re serious about your booking and committed to your date.
✨ To compensate me for reserving that time for you, advertising that spot as booked, and potentially turning away other clients who could have booked it.
Now, I am a human being with kids, a family, a business, and a life… so I GET IT. 😂 Life happens. Kids get sick. Schedules change. Things come up that nobody could have planned for.
I’m always happy to work with my clients when I can, and if you need to cancel or reschedule, I am more than happy to transfer your retainer to another available session/date. ❤️
What I can’t do is refund the retainer every time a session is canceled. If I did that, it would essentially defeat the entire purpose of having a retainer in the first place. I have to protect my business and my time just as much as I want to take care of my clients.
I just want to make sure expectations are clear from the beginning so there are no surprises later!
My goal is always to give you the absolute best experience while also making sure I’m being fair to myself as a small business owner. There’s a whole lot that happens behind the scenes that you guys don’t see, and your session fee and retainer help keep this little photography business running. 🤍

You guys have kept me BUSY this year. Like… blink and suddenly my calendar is full busy. 😂 And I am so incredibly grateful. This business has grown because of you guys, your families, your referrals, your shares, and your continued support. It truly means more to me than I can explain.
