Next up on the Grand Rapids station series is Grand Rapids Station 2 known as the “House of 2’s.” Stationed on the corner of MLK and Ionia.

Station 2 is home of Engine 2, Truck 2, Utility 2, Hazmat 1 and Hazmat 2. Station 2’s specialty is Hazmat, most of the members assigned to the house have a variety of Hazmat training and certifications. Utility 2 is stationed there and is the departments blocker unit and responds to all incidents on the highway to act as a buffer and provide traffic blocking for crews operating on the highway. Station 2 use to be one of the so called “Super stations” back in the day when Engine 7, Engine 10, and Truck 2 use to be stationed there. Station 2 continues to be a very busy station serving the south side of downtown and Southside of Grand Rapids.

Engine 2 was the third busiest Engine in GR last year running a total of 2,814 alarms. Truck 2 ran a total of 1,284 alarms, Utility 2 ran 677 alarms and the hazmats ran an estimated total of 35ish combined calls in 2025.

Engine Company 2: 2011 KME Predator Engine with a 1500 GPM pump and a 750 gallon water tank. EX-Barren Hill Fire Company PA.

Truck Company 2: 2020 Pierce Velocity 100ft Rear-Mount Platform with a 2000 GPM pump and a 300 gallon water tank and 20 gallon foam tank.

Utility 2: 2025 International Custom built traffic blocking unit with Attenuator trailer.

Hazmat 1: 2005 Spartan Advantage Walk Around style Hazmat unit.

Hazmat 2: 2012 Ram 5500/ HME Ahrens Fox QRV.

Vehicle fire between two houses in 10’s district in the 1300 block of Cesar Chavez SW.

Engine 5 was originally dispatched to the assignment as Engine 10 was still on an alarm. Engine 10 freed up and was also added to the assignment. Engine 10 arrived on scene to one vehicle with the engine compartment well involved and stretched a line. Engine 5 arrived shortly after and assisted.

Next up on the Grand Rapids station series is Grand Rapids Station 11, known as the “Batcave”.

Station 11 is home to Engine Company 11, quartered on the corner of Chester Street SE and Diamond SE. 11’s serves a very diverse district, including parts of Eastown.

Engine Company 11 has a rich history and operates out of the oldest frontline fire house in the city constructed in 1902. Engine 11’s quarters is said to be haunted and crews report hearing and seeing strange things happen especially at night.

E11 ran 2,168 alarms in 2025, 11’s also go on mutual aid to the city of East Grand Rapids when requested.

Who would all be interested in these shirts? If I get enough interest I will be selling them for 30 dollars local pick up only I’m located on the NE side of GR or we can meet somewhere in the GR metro area. Sizes are small through 3XL.
