I’ll be at Wahlfield Park on Sunday, October 18 offering 20-minute sessions for $125.

These are perfect if you want updated family photos without committing to a full session—or expecting your kids to “behave” for an hour. We’ll keep it quick and relaxed and let them be themselves.

You’ll receive all of the best edited images from your session. I don’t make you choose five favorites or charge extra for the rest.

Hi, I’m Aslyn 👋🏼

The person usually behind the camera, so I figured it was probably time to show my face around here again.

I’m a Grand Rapids-area photographer, mom, professional kid-wrangler, and firm believer that your family does not need to be perfectly behaved to have beautiful photos.

Actually, I kind of prefer the chaos. It makes me feel like we’re family a bit!

I love the belly laughs, the kids who refuse to sit still, the toddler who directs me for a photo they want, the weird little personalities, and all the in-between moments that make your family feel like your family.

My goal has always been pretty simple. I want to create photos you love without making family pictures feel stressful or ridiculously expensive.

A few things about me:

🍭 I’m a mom myself, so there is very little your kids can do during a session that is going to faze me. I won’t judge you for bribery, for getting frustrated, or when your kids just want to be busy kids.

🐞 I’m not going to spool your kid up, but I am going to play the part they need that day to feel included and genuinely photographed! I’ll answer the question you might wish they hadn’t asked, I’ll take the photo of the bug they found and include it in your gallery for them, and I’m a pro at holding all the things while also taking the photo.

🌿 I love photos that feel natural, warm, and like you rather than perfectly posed.

💸 And keeping photography accessible to normal families is really important to me. Beautiful family photos shouldn’t have to be a once-every-five-years luxury.

Throwback to some Grand Rapids spots with ayreissleight and her (now husband!) Levii! These feel like forever ago, but they’re still some of my absolute favorites.

I’ve always loved sessions where we can just walk around and use whatever we find. GR has so many good little pockets for photos—brick, murals, architecture, alleyways—and you can get a completely different look without going very far.

I’m curious how many of you guys can figure out where each spot is 👀

The number of parents who warn me before a session that their kids are “wild”

I promise you don’t need to apologize when your kids run away, make weird faces, refuse to stand where we put them, need a snack, decide they’re DONE, or generally act like tiny unhinged humans.

I have three of them. I’m not judging.

Let your kids be kids. I’ll worry about the pictures.

The Cosby family!

Stevee was one of Eleni’s teachers, so getting to photograph her family felt extra special. And with the older kids able to make it too, we got the rare chance to have everyone together in one place — which is exactly the kind of thing family photos are perfect for.

One thing I try to make time for during every family session is photographing more than just the whole group. I want the big family photos, of course, but I also want the siblings, the parents together, the kids with each other, and individual portraits of everyone.

If you’re already getting everyone dressed, coordinating schedules, and actually getting the whole family to a photo session… I want you to walk away with as much as possible from it.

And sometimes those individual photos end up being some of my favorites (and yours!).

So yeah, we’ll get the “everyone look at me” photo — but we’re also going to make sure everyone gets their own little moment in front of the camera, too.

We also accomplished all of this during a mini-session, so we don’t need to spend what feels like forever to get it all!

Throwback to warmer days with and their beautiful flower farm. I LOVE plants, gardens, and the people who care for them, so these photos meant a lot to me! I left with a deep appreciation for the understanding of how some dreams are a long time building and with the right people around you, they come to life.
