I was playing around with some ideas and created this mockup of a new outdoor setup I'd love to bring to life.

CLIENT — How much do you charge for a session?

PHOTOGRAPHER — $250–$600 depending on the session.

CLIENT — That’s too expensive for just pictures.

PHOTOGRAPHER — What do you think it should cost?

CLIENT — $75 max. It only takes like 30 minutes.

PHOTOGRAPHER — I can’t do it for that price.

CLIENT — But you’re just taking photos. My phone can do that now. And I see you post all the time… can’t you just squeeze me in and help me out?

PHOTOGRAPHER — I understand. Why don’t you try doing it yourself?

CLIENT — I don’t have a good camera… or know how to edit… or where to shoot.

PHOTOGRAPHER — For $100, I can teach you how to use lighting, posing, camera settings, and editing. Then you can do your own session.

CLIENT — Deal!

PHOTOGRAPHER — Great! First, you’ll need a camera, lenses, editing software, lighting (or know how to use natural light), location ideas, and time to learn it all.

CLIENT — Wait… that’s a lot.

PHOTOGRAPHER — And then you’ll need to practice. A lot. Learn how to pose people, work with kids, fix bad lighting, and edit consistently.

CLIENT — I don’t have time for all that.

PHOTOGRAPHER — Exactly.

CLIENT — You know what… it’s probably better if you just do it.
