Let me hold your hand when I say this…planning a wedding can be hard! But here’s what I would do to keep stress low and protect your peace!

1. Figure out your must-haves (and let the rest go)
Sit down with your fiancé and pick the 2-3 things you both really care about, whether that’s your dream photographer, incredible food, or that one venue you fell in love with. Once you know what matters most, it’s so much easier to let go of the trends or traditions that don’t actually feel like “you.” Skip them guilt-free!

2. Don’t be afraid to hand off the reins
You really don’t have to do this all on your own. A wedding planner or coordinator can be a lifesaver when it comes to juggling logistics and the dozens of little details that pile up fast. And for everything else? Lean on your people. Friends and family usually want to help, so give them small, specific tasks and let them.

3. Make time to just be a couple again
Wedding planning can get intense, especially in those final months when stress and emotions run high. Make sure you’re carving out real, dedicated time with your partner where the wedding is completely off-limits as a topic. Go to dinner, watch a movie, take a walk, whatever feels normal. It’s such an easy thing to lose sight of the relationship in the middle of planning the celebration of it. At the end of the day, your love is the whole reason you’re doing any of this!

Because your wedding photos shouldn’t feel like a chore 🤍

So you want engagement photos that don’t look generic? Here’s how to make yours feel genuinely special and unmistakably you ✨

1. Start with meaning, not aesthetics
Pretty is easy. Meaning is memorable.
-Choose places tied to your relationship (first date, proposal spot, Sunday routine). Even an ordinary location feels elevated when it holds memories! Include small, intentional details like your dog, a bottle of wine or snack you love to enjoy together, heirloom jewelry or sentimental accessories. Not props—pieces of your life. Subtle details add depth without distraction.

2. Make it feel like a great date, not a photoshoot
Plan something you’d actually do together:
-Coffee at your fave local cafe
-Cooking at home
-Exploring a neighborhood you love
-Picnic, bookstore browsing, record shopping
When you’re doing something together, you forget about the camera—and that’s when magic happens.

3. Wear clothes that feel like an upgraded version of yourself
-Coordinate colors, not outfits
-Choose silhouettes you’re comfortable in
-Bring one casual look and one elevated look
If it doesn’t feel like “you on your best day,” skip it.

4. Add movement and interaction
Stillness can feel staged. Movement feels real:
-Walking, dancing, twirling
-Forehead touches, whispered jokes
-Laughing mid-conversation
Emotion beats perfection every time.

5. Choose a time that matches your energy
-Early morning = calm, intimate
-Daytime = bright, playful
-Golden hour = warm, romantic
-Nighttime = cinematic, moody
Light sets the tone as much as the location.

6. Don’t recreate trends—tell your story
Trends fade. Your connection doesn’t.
- Skip what doesn’t resonate
- Lean into what feels natural
- Trust that authenticity is what makes photos timeless

7. Embrace the imperfect moments
Wind in your hair. Shoes off. Laughter that breaks the pose. Those moments are often the ones you’ll treasure most.
Remember: the goal isn’t “Instagram perfect”
It’s photos that make you say:
“That’s us. That’s our love.”
