Most professional photographers I know have other creative hobbies. Some ride motorcycles, some are musicians, some paint—and I bake.
Since it’s pumpkin season, I thought I’d share a little trick for anyone thinking about homemade pumpkin pie.
If you dread cleaning a pumpkin and getting all the good stuff out, let the oven do most of the work.
Cut the pumpkin in half and scoop out what you easily can. Put the halves face down on a baking pan and bake at 400 degrees. Start checking at about 25 minutes. Depending on the pumpkin, it may take longer.
When the pumpkin gets shiny and you can easily press down on it, take it out and let it cool for about 10–15 minutes. It will be HOT!
Once it has cooled enough to handle safely, the skin should peel away easily with a fork.
And there you have it—fresh pumpkin ready for pie, bread, muffins, or whatever pumpkin goody sounds good.
Apparently, sometimes the photographer belongs in the kitchen instead of behind the camera. 📷🎃
