Prep for the Freedom Floats Festival has begun. I picked up my costume on Friday after school (thanks, Lee!). I have half the bread proofing in the fridge, cookie doughs resting in the fridge, and bread dips made (5 flavors). I will pick up the canopy and table on Thursday (thanks Lynn and thanks Scott!), load everything but the food on Friday evening, and on Saturday, we will head to Eastham Park to set up. Come visit us at the freedom flows festival!

Can we talk about a full day of amazing activities?
First up—parking at Eastham Park can be a challenge, but our partners at Shenandoah Shuttles have you covered. Park at Skyline High School and we’ll shuttle you straight to the festival.

Now let’s talk about what’s waiting for you…
We’ve got a BB station with Scouting of America, axe throwing with Shenandoah Valley Axe Throwing, and a kids activity with Downriver Canoe Company.

There’s a photo booth and face painting with State Farm, hands-on activities with Samuels Public Library, and a Gundalow building activity with Shenandoah River State Park.

You’ll see chainsaw carving from Mason Dixon Boys, butter making, seed paper making, and a co****le tournament with Parks & Rec.

And that’s before you even get to the food, games, live music, and yes—the duck race.

Yeah… it’s that kind of day.

Fresh bread orders are open for this week 🍞

I’ll be taking orders over the next few days and baking on Thursday + Friday for porch pickup.

We spent the day building.

Boards, panels, screws that didn’t want to cooperate, a step-ladder that got moved a hundred times. The kind of work that slows you down just enough to notice everything around you.

At some point we looked up and the kids were just… living their lives beside it all. Scooters, toy trucks, bolts being dumped out and handed back to me, laughter (and cries) drifting in and out of the frame.

And it hit us… This is it.

Not finished yet, but already doing what it’s meant to do. Making room for what’s next.

Something good is taking root here.

Metaphorically, physically, emotionally. We’re investing in our family’s future in more ways than just the greenhouse alone. 💙🌱
