love in color palettes

there was a point when I realized my editing style needed to shift. Not that the photos were bad, but I felt that I wasn’t really conveying how each moment felt when I was done with the photo.

The main thing that has helped me grow into my style is working with the colors that were actually there… like leaning into the blues of blue hour instead of trying to make a warmer scene, or being okay with the multiple hues in a room instead of trying to mask and balance out the colors.

I was worried when I first started doing this because I thought I was going to lose any semblance of consistency in my work. In reality, my style became a lot clearer almost immediately when I made this change in my editing.

Color has such an impact on the feel of a photo, and I’m so happy I started experimenting with the idea that
color = feeling
because I feel my work would be nothing without it

Stepping into spring and this new season of my art with the most beautiful website!

My entire heart for what I do, who I do it for, and why it is my greatest passion has been wrapped up into this site. 12 years of photography experience, wedding photography experienced scattered over the past 5 years, and the love that I’ve had for honoring memories since I was a child, all encapsulated by this little corner of the internet.

Working with Kaitlin again was wonderful and I wouldn’t have wanted to dream up something so special with anyone elseā¤ļø

Now everyone go over to my bio! emma-rose.co is waiting for you to see her!

By the time I arrive on the day of your wedding, I know how the flow of your day will go, what the vision is for your photos, and all the details about what will happen when and where. Most importantly, I know what this day will mean to you beyond the I do’s.

This is the driving force for the memories I document throughout the entire day.

It is lovely to have aesthetically pleasing photos, ones that poetically capture the beauty of your wedding day, but what makes those photos 10x better is interlacing them with intention and memories. I’m not just showing up to take wedding photos, I’m staying present, observing, and focusing on what I know matters most to youšŸ¤

hypnotizing you to add some film to your wedding photographyāœØšŸŖ„šŸ”®

I have been shooting film for just about 3 years. It is something I always wanted to work with, and I believe it leans into the exact purpose of why I document weddings in the first place: to fill your gallery with countless imperfect and in-the-moment images of exactly what it felt like to be there.

It’s so easy to be drawn to the nostalgic feel that film offers, and I believe this feeling comes from how film used to be utilized back when it was the only option for visualizing memories. Our parents and grandparents had their weddings shot on film, these were the only images scattered across scrapbooks, and the only way to document a moment was to hope it turned out from the family point-n-shoot camera.

It’s not just the colors or the different formats that give film its charm. The memories of multiple generations of our families are on film, and what a beautiful thing it is to hold memories of your own in the same way.

If the way I see and appreciate film resonates with you, I would love to offer it to you for your weddingā¤ļø

It feels so incredible to say that as of today, February 12th, 2026 I am a full-time photographer🄹 I did it

I’m thinking about 14 year old Emma, who took that photography class in 8th grade that sparked her love for the art. Shoutout to Mrs. Fingland for the only ā€œformalā€ education I received for what I do.

I’m thinking of Emma at 17, who started her business photographing seniors after being the people section editor of the yearbook. Shoutout to Ms. Katzive for encouraging my love of documenting memories and giving me some of my first photography ā€œjobs.ā€

I’m thinking of Emma at 18, starting at CU Boulder while saying ā€œyeah college is my backup plan.ā€ Insanely expensive backup plan, but you go girl

I’m thinking of Emma at 19. She dropped out of college. I want to hug her. She was burnt out and crushed by the weight of what it might mean to leave after working so hard to set herself up for success. I’m forever grateful to the CMCI counselor who made me tea and normalized college not being the right fit for everyone. I left her office feeling better than I had in a long time.

I’m thinking of Emma at 22, who decided to start documenting love. I’m thinking of Emma at 23, she did not give up on her photography dreams, even though her mental health told her to give up on everything. I’m thinking of Emma at 24, she really started taking her craft to the next level and continued to reinforce the belief that it was not an ā€˜if’ but ā€˜when’ for going full time.

Finally, I’m thinking of 25-year-old Emma. Last year, she alchemized all that momentum into the busiest and most fulfilling year yet. She learned to really trust herself and let go of trying to control every single thing ever.

Over the last decade, I’ve learned what my art is rooted in and what it means to feel truly grounded in my purpose. I couldn’t have done this without the support of my clients, family, and friends. Thank you so much to you all! Special shout out to my husband Bryan, I could not have asked for a better partner to love and encourage me through all of thisā¤ļø

cheers to 26 year old Emma for going full timešŸ„¹šŸ“ø
