DID SHE ACTUALLY BURN THE DRESS??
Yes. Yes, she did.
She was not celebrating the loss of a love.....she was grieving what she thought she had. Burning the dress wasn't an act of hostility.....it was a moment of letting go....a moment of officially closing the book on that narrative. The dress never made it down the aisle....so, it no longer represented what a wedding dress should represent. It wasn't about the 'materialistic dress' it was all about destroying what it falsely represented!!
If you cannot understand how cathartic it is to break something or burn something that should have represented joy and promises but turned out to be a representation and reminder of betrayal, then I am honestly happy for you because no one deserves to know what this type of pain feels like....but, clearly....many do!
Yes....she walked away with her head held high and trust me, this girl knows her worth....but, that doesn't mean it came without a battle!! She had to battle her demons to get to this place to be able to do this session with conviction and honesty. She had tears and smiles....I think this was more productive than any therapy session could ever provide and I am just blessed to have witnessed it!
Thank you all for the love you have provided Susan! You came through for her on the day she was supposed to be getting married.....that day ended up being FILLED with love from complete strangers.....so, she received so much love on her wedding day, it just came from a different place than she had originally anticipated. God works in mysterious ways!! God bless all of you for the support and confidence you have given her!!
