Given the crazy weather we have been having this week, I thought I would post one of my favorite 🌪windy 🌬wedding portraits. As a photographer, I am skilled at taking things in stride. Every couple wants gorgeous weather on their wedding day, but that doesn't always work out. Scouting locations and having back up plans are so important for ensuring gorgeous wedding portraits. In this photo, I found a location with a gorgeous background and pretty light. I wanted the wind to blow the bride's hair and gown creating a romantic windswept look. The groom's embrace is so caring and the bride's expression shows her gratitude. The Capital Building in DC, is a great wedding portrait location. The building is iconic and creates a beautiful backdrop and there is always a spot with pretty lighting.

🍂✨ There’s something magical about fall at Scarlet Springs Farm, and our recent styled wedding shoot captured every ounce of it. This scenic farm, with rolling hills, stunning sunsets, and those adorable baby highland cows with their long, shaggy coats, was the perfect backdrop for an autumn-inspired shoot. 🐂🧡

Oh my goodness! (SMILE!) 😃 Shots like this only happen when you allow kids to let loose and be themselves. During every family session, I like to allow for a time where children can run and explore. Children need lots of breaks anyway in order to keep their focus and smiles going. Letting them run free for a bit (while I chase them around with my camera capturing shots like this one!) is so much fun. You see their true personalities shining through. Those moments are the ones you remember and talk about years from now. So get the picture perfect look for the holiday card, but also allow for those fun candid moments that fade so quickly as your little one grows up!

Showcasing the groom on the wedding day is so important to me. A wedding is the joining of two people and I like to make certain his story is also told on his wedding day. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Having a two photographer team is a great way to make certain both the bride and the groom have ample coverage during getting ready times, pre-wedding celebrations with their wedding party, and portraits before the ceremony.

This groom detail makes me smile. Grooms tend to fidget a lot with their ring on their wedding day. Seeing this shiny gold band as he adjusts his cuffs makes me smile. As simple as the groom's attire is, they are always perfecting and adjusting to look their best on their wedding day too!

When photographing families and small children, I like to let them be themselves. Allowing a child to jump on their bed is one way to get some big smiles! I loved capturing this family at their new home. Pretty purple walls and unicorn horns! What more could a girl want?!

We are currently long-term dog sitting for a neighbor. I was surprised to learn that Chihuahuas are not the nicest of dogs. This pooch has a lot of fears and it just so happens storms are a big one! It’s oh so hard to edit … or sleep for that matter … during a thunderstorm⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️⛈️with this guy around. He’s so scared, it’s like having an earthquake jump into your lap. 🫨 Anyone else have a pet that’s scared of storms?
