Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Each year when all the rainbows appear I am reminded of what Pride is really about. It's about authenticity, love, human connection, and the right to be oneself and to love who you love without fear of persecution or harm.

I remember when I was first coming out I felt tremendous fear that I would disappoint my parents and honestly whomever I might meet in my life. It was a challenging time in my mid twenties and it wasn't until I moved to the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts that I really began to see myself differently and lean into all the parts of who I am.

I am very grateful for my family and wife who love and support me, but that kind of love is not always given to members of the LGBTQ community. Please be kind and open to what makes each person special.

These two photos of me and my client Debbie were taken on set during a recent Headshot Day in Canton.

Debbie, a mortgage broker, shared something really important that applies to both her world and mine. There’s a common misconception that estate planning is something you can “set it and forget it.” But life changes. Circumstances shift. And so do we.

I actually photographed Debbie four years ago, and it was such a pleasure to have her back for updated headshots that reflect where she is today in her business and career.

Last week I shared some of Maud’s professional photos, and I mentioned there was another side to her I couldn’t wait to show.

This is it.

We hit the beach despite cold temperatures and wind because Maud wanted to show her connection to nature and the elements. The original vision was to be in the snow but Mother Nature had other plans for us. We had a gorgeous day despite the cold and Maud was enlivened by the rush of the water and the blustery Cape Cod winds. She was a vision of beauty and her joy was evident in every photo.

On Cape Cod, Memorial Day always feels like the start of summer, especially on a weekend like this when everything is coming alive. Before the barbecues and beach days fully take over, it’s also a moment to pause and remember those who made this freedom possible.

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take part in a career day at Nauset Middle School, where Brett serves as Vice Principal.

I loved getting to talk with students about my work in photography and what I enjoy about my day to day. I also loved seeing the wide range of careers represented that day.

Being an adult comes with its challenges, but I hope the bigger takeaway for the kids was this: there isn’t just one “right” path. There’s space to explore, try things, change direction, and ultimately find work that you genuinely enjoy.
