So much of the wedding industry is centered solely around the bride and I feel like somewhere along the way, we lost the plot.

It’s not just her wedding day. It’s THEIR wedding day. So can we collectively stop treating the groom like a supporting character at his own wedding?

We don’t need to make the groom’s side of the day look exactly like the bride’s. We just need to stop treating it like something to quickly check off the timeline.

Give him time with his people. Pay attention to the relationships in the room. Photograph the nerves, the anticipation, the stupid s**t his friends are doing, the hugs with his parents, the quiet moments, the big reactions and everything happening in between.

There is an entire story unfolding on his side of the day, too. And as photographers, our job isn’t just to document the pretty parts of a wedding. It’s to pay attention to the people and the moments that actually make the day what it is.

The groom deserves more than 15 minutes of “getting ready” photos and a few portraits before we move on.

It’s his wedding day, too. Let’s photograph it like it is.

Bo***ir photographers: your clients need to be able to SEE how you’re moving 👏🏼

I’m not saying you need to show up lingerie (but by all means 😂) but if you’re demoing poses in super baggy clothes, it can be really hard for your client to see what your body is actually doing.

Where are your hips? How are you arching? Where is your weight shifted? What is your torso doing?

For instance, I’m not wearing anything crazy in this video but you can SEE my body. Wear something fitted enough that they can clearly see the shapes + movements you’re asking them to recreate.

You are quite literally their posing example. Make it easy for them to follow you 🫶🏼📸
