I recently had a client become VERY upset with me because it took me about 3 days to respond to a message regarding a session that was still about 2 months away. It escalated to the point that they demanded a refund, which they received, because really, at that point I didn’t feel like we were going to be a good fit working together anyway.
And while I definitely think the reaction was a little irrational given the circumstances 😂 it also made me realize that I need to do a better job of setting expectations and boundaries with my business.
I promise I'm not ignoring you. If you see me share a post and I haven't responded to your message - it was probably a scheduled post. A lot of my posts are scheduled because I don't always have the time to sit and come up with things every day. If I know I have a message and don't respond it keeps me up at night so trust me - not ignoring!
I’m a one-woman show over here! Between shooting, editing, running an entire business AND being a mom with a family outside of work, I simply cannot be available to answer messages all day, every day.
Going forward, I’m going to do my best to treat weekends as actual weekends when I’m not shooting. This does NOT mean I won’t book sessions on weekends - I absolutely will! It just means that outside of sessions, I’m going to be present with my family instead of feeling like I need to constantly check messages, emails and notifications.
You can ALWAYS message me whenever you need to! Just know that messages received over the weekend may not receive a response until the following business day. 🤍
I absolutely love what I do and appreciate my clients more than you know, but owning a business does not mean being available 24/7
