What you wear can completely change the look and feel of your senior photos.

One of the reasons I love downtown suburban locations for senior sessions is how much variety we can create without going very far.

But the location is only part of it.

Jeans and a black tee can let us create images with stronger contrast, use architectural backgrounds and poses with a little more attitude.

Change into a white dress and I’m looking for something completely different. Soft backlight, movement and a more relaxed, feminine feel.

Same senior. Same location. Very different images.

That’s part of how I plan senior sessions. The outfit, light, background and posing all work together so the final gallery doesn’t feel like the same photo over and over again.

“What do I do?”
The good news? You don’t need to know what to do.

Most of my clients aren’t models. They’re business owners, coaches, consultants, and creatives who simply want images that feel natural and authentic.

Instead of focusing on poses, I guide clients through simple movements, prompts, and activities. Having something to do helps people relax, stop thinking about the camera, and let their personality come through.

That’s when the genuine expressions happen.

I photograph women entrepreneurs, families, and high school seniors—three very different types of sessions, but all connected by one thing: people navigating meaningful seasons of life.

School has just ended, routines have shifted, and suddenly the calendar is filling with camps, vacations, summer jobs, activities, and plans with friends.

We wait all year for summer, imagining slower days and more free time, but then realizing it can be just as full as the rest of the year.

I’m right there with you.

As a mom of two teenage girls, I’m navigating the shift in routine, balancing family life and business, and trying to be intentional about how I spend my time during these these summer days. I want to create memories with my girls, take advantage of the longer days, and make time for the experiences before another school year begins.

I know many of the women I work with are feeling the same thing.

Some are welcoming college students home. Some are sending kids off to camp. Some are balancing family schedules while running businesses of their own. Most of us are simply trying to enjoy this season while keeping all the moving pieces in motion.

I get to work with women entrepreneurs who are building businesses they’re passionate about.

I photograph families taking advantage of warm evenings and long summer light.

And I meet high school seniors who are preparing for a year filled with milestones, celebrations, decisions, and change.

Different stories. Different seasons. But all worth remembering.
