Every wedding should feel this effortless 🤍

Katie + Phil’s day at the Chicago Athletic Association was full of character, history, and the kind of energy you can’t plan for. You could feel how loved they are by their people from start to finish.

Phil’s eyes twinkled when he saw Katie for the first time. Soft, quiet tears in the crowd as they said, “I do.” I knew from the moment I met them that their love was big, and celebrating them was the easiest thing in the world.

That’s what I want for every couple I work with: a day where you’re fully present, and I’m holding onto all of it for you.

Nine years together, and Kayla and Joe still look at each other like it’s day one. 

This past weekend we celebrated them at Walden Event Venue, surrounded by every shade of fall and so much warmth between the two of them. And the look on their faces as they walked back down the aisle, officially married? The cutest moment ever. 

When a couple has been together this long, we’re not looking for brand-new moments. We’re watching for the ones they’ve been building for years: the inside jokes and the way they find each other in a crowded room. Those are the photos we hope they come back to.

An evening with Amanda and Jessica at the record shop 🎶 It’s one of their favorite ways to spend time together: getting lost in the stacks, pulling out albums, showing each other what they found. So a month before their wedding, that’s exactly where we went. Mile Long Records, the two of them, and a quiet night in the last stretch of being fiancées. 💞

Before we’d even started, they had already found it: the record with their first dance song. They’ll be dancing to it as wives in just a few weeks, and getting to photograph them with it before the big day felt really special ✨

These are the photos I hope they pull out in twenty years. Not because it was a big day, but because it was so completely them.

Jess and Amanda, I can’t wait to see you next month. 💍

I was a collector before I was a photographer. Journals, scrapbooks, anything that held onto a memory I didn’t want to lose.

Then in high school I borrowed my dad’s vacation camera for an art class and never gave it back (thanks Dad!).

It started with senior photos for friends. Then their engagements. Then came the other paths pulling at me, and a whole lot of self-doubt. But that need to hold onto memories never left me alone.

Thirteen years later, I still journal, I still scrapbook, I still keep everything. And now I get to collect memories for other people too. I feel so lucky to love something this much.
