45 faces. 45 lives. 45 chances to choose one.

Today I photographed the dogs and cats at Butts County Animal Services, a small rural shelter in Georgia currently caring for more than 45 animals who need homes.

I know we can’t all save 45. But you don’t have to.

Choose one.

One dog. One cat. One life you can adopt, foster, share, or simply help get seen. Look through these faces and don’t just keep scrolling. Pick one and help us tell their story.

With the help of RescueMeATL, we’re doing everything we can to get these animals seen and into the homes they deserve. ❤️🐾

“They’ll get adopted.”

We want to believe it. They’re cute, sweet, good dogs. Surely someone will choose them.

But that’s not always what happens.

Shelters are full of incredible dogs waiting for homes, and sadly, some never make it out.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, visit your local shelter. Meet the dogs. Ask questions. Give one of them a chance to go home. 🐾❤️

And if you can’t adopt, share. The right person may be one share away.

I’m excited to finally share what I’ve been working on.

Watching Gemini run around with her zoomies is a reminder of what every dog deserves.

Instead, she spent over 2 years in a shelter as evidence in a court case.

These are called court case dogs. They are often seized during cruelty, neglect, or dog fighting investigations and can spend months or even years waiting while their cases move through the legal system.

Justice matters. Holding people accountable matters. But we also need a system that protects the welfare of the dogs caught in the middle.

Every extra month in a kennel is time they never get back.

Gemini finally got her chance. Too many others are still waiting.

The public needs to know what court case dogs are, because they deserve better and with the help from RescueMeATL we will work hard to help as many dogs as possible!
