Bearded Mug Media Where the shutter hits the word. My name is Bryan and I’ve been into cars for my entire life. I drive Volkswagens and shoot Nikons.

My earliest automotive memories include my Papa’s old black Pontiac, a neighbor’s Ford Tempo and a friend of the family’s blue VW Beetle. My first car was a hand-me-down 1987 Toyota Corolla that was in mint condition, until one unfortunate morning I pushed the limits of the skinny tires too far. A 1989 Toyota Supra Sport Roof replaced that for about a year and afterwards, it's been a string of VWs

, including a 20th Anniversary GTI in the best color - Jazz Blue - and a 16V Scirocco, the worst and only winter beater I've owned. I am also in touch with my JDM side, keeping an '81 Celica in storage until the time is right to repair the brakes and get it road worthy again. I try to attend as many car shows, gatherings, Concours, cruise-ins and impromptu meets as possible and take pictures when I do so. I’ve been into photography for over a decade and am proud of how I’ve honed my style in the last year, and continue to do so with each opportunity I get. Writing has been a passion of mine since college and I am eager to start creating in that medium again. I’ve had a few things published on a national level with some of my images to accompany them. Please enjoy the content I post and drop me a comment whenever appropriate. I always enjoy communicating with people and encourage the opening of a dialogue.

It’s wild to think that the Lime Rock Park Historics are less than a week away. This year they’re celebrating Alfa Romeo and Miles Collier (Revs Institute). is looking to be one of the best festivals yet.

My first time at EyesOn Design left such an impression on me that I hope to make it back next Father’s Day weekend in 2027. More of my pictures and all of my words can be found in my Hemmings coverage. The link is in my bio!

It was great to meet so many incredible people and see so many cars that aren’t exposed to the east coast concours scene. It’s inspired me to try and get to some new events in 2027.

My coverage of the EyesOn Design Car Show is now live on Hemmings!

Take a moment to give it a read, give it a share, and send it to all your car buddies. And maybe mark your calendar to attend the event next Father's Day. It's certainly worth it and I'm already looking forward to the trip.

EyesOn Design places over 150 collector cars on the grounds of the Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan.

In August 2005, I took a solo roadtrip to Pensacola, Florida to visit my buddy John and celebrate my 21st. It was to be part of a longer trip that would include visiting family scattered throughout the state. The journey down was uneventful in my 1998 Jetta, even though I packed a hydraulic lift and a full-size spare just in case.

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in the first few days I was there. Sure it rained and it was windy, but it wasn’t nearly as bad where I was staying.

Once the weather had cleared we were able to get to the beach. Unfortunately when we returned back I found the front of the car all banged up. Someone had reversed out of their garage and right into my car. Thankfully they left a note so I was able to have it properly repaired via someone else’s insurance. But after all the time spent coordinating a temporary repair so I could get home to NJ and securing a rental (a bright red Pontiac Vibe) it meant my trip was sadly reduced to just one additional stop before I had to head back north.

All things considered it was fine, even though my ignition switch was also acting up, making me wonder if the car would restart after turning it off at the hotel. It did, and I was able to get the Johnny 5 impersonator back home. I even took one of my favorite pictures of it and you can’t even tell it’s damaged.

The body shop did a great job repairing it (with smoked E-codes 👍🏻) and a new Jetta hood, and I was able to get to H2Oi with it a few weeks later.

June is always one of my busiest months and this year wasn’t any different (ok the Greenwich Concours was technically in May).

It started with the aforementioned concours and I had a week off before the double header of Tony Boniello Festival Italiano on Saturday and Caffeine & Carburetors on Sunday. I then took a solo roadtrip to Michigan for EyesOn Design and finished the month at NLS Cult Classic this past Sunday.

While I very much enjoy seeing cars of all types and talking to people from all walks of life, I’m looking forward to playing catchup. And I’ve got a lot of emails to reply to.

So here’s to striking the fine balance of it all. And maybe even fitting in some Gran Turismo. Because it starts back up again in September.

The one I want vs the one I have vs the one I had (plus a bonus from 2002!).

I went for a late night drive last week and stopped at a , one of my favorite places. Call it fate, or a coincidence, or just very good timing, but this super clean Jazz Blue 20th Anniversary GTI was parked in the lot. I chatted with the owner a bit and it really got my nostalgic wheels turning, burning and yearning. I need a fun car again.

Or maybe the Jetta just needs suspension and wheels. I mean, it’s over 30k miles so it’s practically a classic 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also, attention and . This is how you used to make special editions. Bring back these kind of vibes. And manual transmissions ya bunch of dopes.

Ferrari, Bugatti, Packard, Tommykaira, Plymouth, Fiat-Siata, Mercedes-Benz…which one are you taking out for a Friday night drive? For me it’s either the Tommykaira M30 or that F40 LM. Or that B-Body Plymouth. Or that SLR. This is hard.
