Just us in the villa, running through the gardens and feeling in love.
Erica texted me that morning. “We may be a tiny bit hungover lol.”
I had just wrapped a 15 hour wedding weekend. We were all running on coffee, adrenaline, and pure willpower. And somehow this is what happened.
Vizcaya in the early morning light. The villa to ourselves. Erica in polka dots channeling full Italian Riviera energy because she wanted Euro and Miami delivered. Phillip along for the ride and grounding her in all the right ways. Old world stone, the mint green pavilion over the bay, parterre gardens begging to be run through barefoot.
This is the thing nobody tells you about photographing real people. Some of the most magical sessions are not the ones where everyone is perfectly rested and perfectly prepped. They are the ones where the energy between people is so good that none of that matters. Where you laugh through it. Where the images come easy because the chemistry is already there.
Engagement sessions are sacred to my process. This is where I learn how Erica moves, how Phillip looks at her when she is laughing, how they navigate a space together. By the time we get to the wedding day, nothing feels new.
Hungover-ish, exhausted, completely obsessed with what we made.
Counting down to their wedding day.
