It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since this article was published, marking my 20th year in business! 📸 Looking back at this reminds me why I started Furnace Hill Photography in the first place—to serve this community with heart, quality, and integrity.
Today, I’m still at it, and I’m more passionate than ever. But the landscape of school photography is changing, and recently, there’s been a lot of national concern regarding big corporations like Lifetouch and the safety of our children’s data.
When you choose a national conglomerate, your child’s information often goes into a massive corporate database. When you choose local, you get more than just better pictures; you get accountability.
Here is why local matters now more than ever:
Data Security: I use the Captura.io platform, which is designed with industry-leading encryption. Your child’s image and info stay secure and are never sold or "mined" by a corporate parent company.
Direct Accountability: If you have a question, you call me. I live and work right here in the community.
Decades of Experience: With over 22 years behind the lens, I’ve built my reputation on trust, not just volume.
Thank you for letting me capture your memories for over two decades. Here’s to many more!

Joni Geary became interested in taking photos when she was just a teenager, and her passion for it has never waned.
