Originally the forerunner of Pittsburgh-based Thrift Drug as it opened in the Connellsville Shopping Center where Nickman Drug is currently located. After acquiring Eckerd, in 1997 JCPenney merged Thrift Drug and all other pharmacy chains into the larger Eckerd chain. As a result of the merger and uniquely timed with the overhaul of the Connellsville Towne Center across Memorial Boulevard (U.S. Route 119)(later purchased by CVS Pharmacy and Rite Aid) This store was built in the late 1990s after the demolition of the former Yum Yum donut shop and Winky's (later Arby's) this building was built and operations moved across the highway with many improvements including separated pharmacy, restrooms, patient consultation room and drive thru to name a few.
It was purchased by Rite Aid in 2007 and in 2022 had an upgrade to it's facade
The Rite Aid company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2025 and as a round of liquidating its assets, it was announced the Connellsville location would be closed with 20-50% off remaining items.
