Smoky skies, a hot August morning, and one beautiful family! ❤️

Getting this busy crew all together in one place is practically a miracle, but we made it happen, and I LOVE what we captured!

The last time we updated their family portraits, we were on their dairy surrounded by cows. 🐄 This time, we traded the cows for cornfields! 🌽 I love that we get to capture their family right where so much of their life happens.

I've had the privilege of documenting this family every few years, and it's always so fun to see how everyone has grown and changed. These are the memories that only become more valuable with time!

And the sweetest ending to our session? Fresh-squeezed 🍋ne LeMMMon lemonade for the whole crew! Pretty sure we walked away with 8 new lemonade fans! 🍋

If you know the Skillern family, you know just how lucky you are! Truly some of the kindest people, and I'm so grateful to call them friends.

We've been capturing their family portraits every single year for the past 10 YEARS! And let me tell you, this year hit a little differently. These kids grew up SO MUCH in just one year! 🥹

It's such a reminder that while the days can feel long, the years really are so incredibly short. One minute they're little, and the next you're wondering how they got so grown up!

The Last Time…

Writer and philosopher Sam Harris once said:
“No matter how many times you do something, there will come a day when you do it for the last time.”

It hit me hard…

That quote is so powerful because it makes you pause and appreciate the little moments we often take for granted. Here are some “last times” in life that hit differently when you realize they’ve passed:

📖 The last bedtime story you read to your child before they stop asking.
✏️ The last time you packed a school lunch before they graduate.
🚗 The last time you buckle them into their car seat before they do it themselves.
🏡 The last time your whole family lives under one roof before life takes them in different directions.
🎁 The last time you help them open a birthday present before they do it themselves.
👋🏻The last drop-off at school before they drive themselves.
📞 The last time your parents call just to check in before the roles reverse.
🐾 The last walk with a beloved pet before they cross the rainbow bridge.
⚽️ The last game you watch them play before they hang up their jersey.
🎶 The last song you dance to with a loved one before the moment is gone.

How many moments do you really have remaining with your loved ones? It's probably not as many as you'd like to believe. All the tiny moments, people and experiences that we take for granted will eventually be ones we wish we had more of. Time is our most precious asset and the present is all that's guaranteed. Spend it wisely, with those you love, in ways you'll never regret.

We rarely know when these "lasts" are happening in the moment. That’s why capturing and cherishing them matters. 💙

We also captured a few moments with her parents that made this session extra special. With her mom, we showed off their matching tattoos. With her dad, we highlighted the tattoo on her collarbone featuring his handwriting—a little piece of him she’ll always carry with her.

Dad isn’t quite ready for a tattoo of his own, but his handwriting made the cut! 😉 Love these personal details and the family connections behind them.

Meet beautiful Callie—one of our Class of 2027 Season Seniors! ❤️

This session was SO much fun and filled with so many pieces of who Callie is.

We started downtown with some fun urban looks and, of course, her clogs! Clogging has been such a big part of Callie’s life, so there was no way we were leaving that out. From there, we headed to the foothills to capture her dance side with her poms, followed by the most gorgeous long, flowy dress surrounded by nature.

Then it was off to the water, where we incorporated something extra special—Callie’s baby doll from when she was a little girl. 🥹 And since we were already at the water…of course I had to get her IN it! That’s just how I roll. 😂

Callie is absolutely stunning, but even more importantly, she is just as beautiful on the inside. I’ve had the privilege of photographing her family for the past EIGHT years, which makes getting to document this huge milestone year even more special. I’ve watched this little girl grow into such an incredible young woman, and now I get to tell the story of her senior year through multiple sessions.

Talk about full circle. ❤️

When your dogs are about to be featured on a VAN…obviously, you need updated portraits! 🐾📸

Meet Jazzy and Mozart—who are kind of a BIG deal now. 😂

We snuck in an early morning session before the summer heat kicked in and captured these two sweet pups looking their absolute best for their big debut.

And now…there they are, larger than life on the side of a van! How COOL is that?! I absolutely love seeing their portraits out in the wild!
