BECCA | BHS | CLASS OF 2027

Senior season has started!! Scroll through to see a peek into Becca's session from Friday!

This is an extra special sneak peek, not only because Becca is the FIRST senior of the year, but because she is the 5th and final Hanson girl! I had the honor of photographing all five sisters, and there were more tears this time around for mama Jari as she watched her final daughter start the beginning of the lasts.

Okay, now on to BECCA!! First...one of the most special places I've ever had a senior do part of their session: The Boys & Girls Club! Becca spent time there as a kiddo, and then worked there. She is clearly adored by them, because one of the sweet employees came in on her *maternity* leave after hours so that we could do this! Thank you, mama-I forgot your name, sorry!!

Then, another place she wanted to take some at was The Boardwalk- Minigolf and Snack Shack- Lake Bemidji where she's worked a few summers. They were gracious in letting us be there, Becca enjoyed an ice cream cone from the Snack Shack, and we had so much fun! That pelican...Dave? Bruce? Karl? Dang it....what was its name?!!

The cute red kerchief top was a last minute swap, and assistant Katy called her son, who jumped in her cool red Jeep and drove it to us for her to shoot with-when we say we go that extra mile, we mean it quite literally, haha! Thanks, Tyler-you rock!

A few other stops along the way, with an even more special part of her day that will be shared later, but I figured mama Jari would be a puddle if I posted the same day. Becca is spunky, sweet, and was such pure JOY to photograph. I was sad when it was done, but not sad to escape the first hatch of mosquitos!

The first senior session always has "that thing" that happens-this year? Locked the keys in my Suburban! Hubby to the rescue, but while assistant Katy and I waited, we enjoyed Jari's tradition for us on her daughter's sessions: homemade DELICIOUS cookies and milk!

Becca, I can't wait to show you all the rest!
Jari, soon you will join the Empty Nest club.
Sniffle.

Class of 2027, it's YOUR year!!

JOHNNY + ANNA = LOVE

Happy 1st Anniversary today to the McNallans!!

Johnny is one of my MMP kids, and has been so special to me (along with his family) in many ways, one being his love for Jesus. When he proposed to Anna, everyone just knew God made them for each other! I was so excited, then so sad, when I not only couldn't photograph their wedding, but I couldn't be there at all to celebrate as I was at a different celebration several hours away for a very special family member's graduation.

When his mom, Alisa, told me they were coming home (they live in Maui!), I reached out to Johnny and asked if I could give them their wedding gift: an anniversary session.

The way they look at each other.
The joy they share.
The laughter and playfulness.
The way he holds her.
The way she trusts him.
The marriage God gave them.

Johnny and Anna *almost* convinced me to go back to weddings for my former seniors, but for now, I am just giddy with having witnessed this beautiful couple celebrating their love, on a gorgeous summer evening in Minnesota.

So happy for both of you, and so blessed to have been able to do this for you-happy anniversary!!

JFK SPRING SHOW 2026!

Always such a fun show to photograph, and the kids did awesome! The daddy/daughter dance is always a hit, but this year the "little" daddy/daughter dance "Superhero" was SO cute!

Senior recognition is always a tear jerker, along with laughter for all the memories, and this year was a bit extra special for me...I have photographed JFK the entire lives of those seniors, the first full series of kids! Wow, is that soooooo special to me!

The show ended on a very sad note, however. Bailey Anderson, former MMP-er and longest dance coach that Director Amy has had, is moving to Texas. She will be very, very missed, not only by all the other coaches, but by these dancers.

It also has let to the acceleration of something I knew would eventually arrive, the day that my assistant Avery would start the road to following in her mom's footsteps. (Amy is her mom!) I thought we had a good 3-5 years yet, but with Bailey moving, Avery is moving into a very full time position with JFK, and will be, sadly, leaving MMP in the fall. She was born to teach dance, and is amazing at it, but I'll sure miss her, and will be making some significant changes in her absence.

Thank you, Amy & JFK families, for being my longest running client-we LOVE you!!

Here is the link, go enjoy reliving your show and download all of your kiddo's photos to keep and treasure!

I was down in Delano at my hotel when I first saw this, and something immediately resonated. I paused it, and in the background was Toward and Ms Maus-it was BEMIDJI! It has since gone viral, over 3 million around the world showing up for him!

Bemidji…he’s one of us. No one showed up for him at graduation, no one celebrated him or welcomed him with open arms-he was all alone. No one should ever feel that alone.

If you have TikTok, go watch this.
I’m sadly gone the day he’s now celebrating at Diamond Point (26th) but have reached out to help him in other ways.

Let’s show up for a young man that, despite the odds, GRADUATED, and let’s be his Bemidji family! 💙

**His celebration date is June 26th 5:30 at Diamond Point for those confused. He has a TikTok specifically about it *after this original one went viral, because of all the incredible support.

3.6M likes, 203.2K comments. “Everybody had someone waiting for them after they crossed that stage. I had nobody. Deceased mother. Absent father. No brothers. No grandparents Just me, standing in a room full of celebrations trying not to fall apart.”

Heartbreaking loss for our Bemidji Lumberjack Softball team in Brainerd this morning in the Section Championship game.

You know it is a tough one when the Bemidji Pioneer reporter is fighting tears next to you while your own fall.

Girls: Bemidji is SO PROUD of you! You played hard all season, and we all wanted this win so badly for you. Second place isn't what you wanted to come home with, BUT....

You never quit. Even down 8-0 at one point, YOU NEVER QUIT. And in the midst of facing a 9-4 deficit, you STILL had smiles and laughter after Ridley made an unbelievable (yet super funny!) catch; you all loved playing the game of softball, and it showed.

Stand proudly for all you accomplished. Congratulations to all of you, thank you coaches for striving for the best from these players, and thank you parents/families for being such great supporters on the sidelines. A special shout out to all the future Lumberjacks, the Blaze sofball girls, for showing up at the home game yesterday with signs and cheering for the "big girls"!

One last time....GO JACKS!

Gunner Ganske, Class of 2026, wearing every baseball uniform he has worn in his exemplary career!
Ranging from the Lumberjacks to Heat to Bemidji Bucks and many, many teams between, this catcher, pitcher, and power hitter has spent more hours on that dirt than anyone could possibly count.

This was a project which spanned over months of planning and designing, a special request from his mom, Kirby, to surprise his dad, Jeremy. The design concept was one I envisioned since the first chat with Kirby, and Gunner was a rockstar with so many uniform changes! Shooting each uni in both pitching and hitting, and then choosing from hundreds of images, it was a massive puzzle to put together-one I could not wait to finish!

Kirby had tears of joy when she first saw it, and kept it under wraps waiting to unveil it at the start of Gunner's grad party Saturday night for his dad to see. Go big or go home, this metal art piece is 2 feet by 4 feet, and Jeremy made sure his son knew that this was staying home with mom and dad!!

The Ganske family is no stranger to baseball in Bemidji, and tomorrow as Section Playoffs start, it will be a tad bittersweet as their middle son goes into the playoffs for the last time in his high school career before heading off to college in SD to keep playing.

It was truly an honor to take this project on, and I was thrilled to take a photo with him next to it, those photos in the comments!

Gunner, you lean more towards quiet yet strong leadership, are one of the hardest working athletes I've ever met, and I will miss watching you play both baseball and football! Best of luck in all you do!

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2026!!

I typically post one celly photo from our cap & gown sessions on graduation, but this session? EPIC!
And it represents what one of the best parts of high school….FRIENDSHIPS.

This class of seniors has been phenomenal, and I’ll miss them sooooo much.
Parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, and community of Bemidji, THANK YOU for all you’ve done raising a fantastic BHS graduating class! 💙🎓

CONGRATS CLASS OF 2026!!

Every year I cry making these; what an outstanding class, a year full of memories, and a tinge of sadness to say goodbye to these awesome kids!
Best of luck in all you do-I am SO proud of you, seniors!!

BEMIDJI….You stepped up for the Class of 2026 in a MAJOR way!!!
When the party was dropped, Erica Daman stepped up and in a few short weeks, SO MANY incredible people in our community donated prizes, money, food, and volunteer time to help for tonight’s grad party!

If you’re one of them, please know how grateful these kids were, and that over 150 kids attended, thanks to YOU!

I love my community so much-THIS is what matters, showing up for our youth!
GO BEMIDJI and GO JACKS!!!

I don’t often post sports sneaks on my page, I do them on my Instagram, but it’s the first game of spring sports season and I absolutely LOVE capturing the artistic, storytelling side of baseball-especially in black and white.
It reminds me that baseball is truly timeless.
Go Jacks!!!!

Here’s the link to all the game pics, enjoy!
