Summer evenings are ahead. Warm earth, long grasses shifting in soft breezes. Golden light shifting over walls of homes both tangible and remembered.

Childhood places leave deeper grooves in the pathways of our memories. A solitary gate that led to my grandparents back pasture. Peepers songs, evening sun glowing on rusted metal, wilted wildflower chains and crowns. Memories of sweet summers well spent .

I got a really neat opportunity to work with my brothers fire department 🚒 🧑‍🚒. As they did their diveing certification . It was a lovely experience. Thank goodness there are such great opportunities for those that serve and protect our communities.

In honor of her on her birthday Here's a little piece i did oh her fur color will always be fresh in my memory. The color of rust. I'm so thankful for the time i had with her 10/10 no regrets. It's sad to lose pets but it's so worth the love gained in the end.

My  stinky grumpy old dog wasn't the first and won't be the last experience of loss . One thing I've learned  over the years is that love doesn't die with the body.  It's more like a  loaned commodity. No love is wasted. As Lord Alfred Tennyson wrote of the loss of a beloved friend.

“Tis better to have loved and lost

Than never to have loved at all”

Although you might not have an evolving relationship with a  late  friend, spouse, pet, family member. Since you live on and grow, the love they gave you lives on and expands . That love is spread and given to all those you meet, therefore that part of them never dies. In that sense all the love you have ever received was pre established long before your birth and will live on long after your death.

I'm a person who doesn't really label years as good or bad . I prefer to think of them as transitional and maintaining. 2025 was a transition yr not just for myself but for many of my family and friends. There were health issues, deaths ,job losses, countless resume edits and job applications. The foundations have shifted and a new year will continue to bring changes and hard ships will undoubtedly be part of that but as i told a friend the other day my motto for the yr is "from piles of manure grow beautiful gardens". So my hope and prayer for family friends is that the ground work was laid this year and beautiful gardens will grow in 2026.

It's been a crazy yr of nonsensical madness, loss, transition and frustration. So i dressed my brother up as Santa and did a photo shoot on one of the coldest nights of the yr . He sent them out as Christmas cards to try and brighten peoples days. I'm posting a few so everyone can share in the fun. #goodbye2025
