Jesslyn Marie Photography Backcountry weddings for the wildly in love. Because you deserve the wedding you actually want. Helicopter rides above glaciers.

Having witnessed first-hand those who have felt constrained by the expectations big, traditional weddings, I understand the desire to do things differently. You don’t want the same old thing wrapped in shiny new packaging — you want something that reflects who you are as a couple. If you’ve been needing someone to tell you that you have permission to rise above the status quo to create a wedding e

xperience that is unapologetically you ...

You have permission. By choosing to elope, you are making the decision that your day is all about YOU by incorporating the things you love most — outdoor adventure and each other. Weekend excursions to remote alpine lakes. Simple day hikes to favorite locales. The sky is the limit and I want you to have the most unique, adventure-seeking wedding day that you never knew you could have.

Don’t want a long day with consecutive hours of photography coverage? Split it! And might I recommend sunrise and sunset, like Emily and Kyle did?

But this split day served two purposes. Yes, a break to rest and relax without cameras around, but also a big location change (four hours in the other direction from where we started).

Weapons are not allowed in national parks, and that includes wedding swords, which these two had custom made by hand for the occasion. Truly, the most unique accessory I’ve seen to date!

By splitting their day between sunrise and sunset, we were able to get the best of BOTH golden hours, have time with family and time alone, rest up, and see some gorgeous landscapes that might otherwise not be visited on the same day.

When the weather doesn’t cooperate, we pivot. ⤵️

Rachel and Jeff planned their day around a few key locations in Glacier, starting with an intimate ceremony on Lake McDonald after sunrise, followed by a jammer bus tour (iconic!) to the top of Logan’s Pass.

The original plan was for the three of us to then go on a hike to Hidden Lake while the guests ride back down to take a scenic boat tour on the lake; however, Mother Nature had other plans. When we arrived at Logan’s Pass, you couldn’t see more than 20ft in front of you, it was windy, cold, and raining. Nobody was going to have a good time.

I could see Rachel’s heart drop, so I made the call: I’ll go up to the visitor’s center and use a phone to cancel our shuttle ride (no cell service up there), we’ll ride back down with everyone, go in the boat tour, and I’ll take the two of them out again the following day to get photos in the places they really wanted to experience. That shifted the energy for the rest of the day!

We all had a blast hanging out together in the park, and eventually made our way back to the AirBnB they were all staying at for a four course meal prepared in home by (amazingly delicious!).

We still ran into some weird weather at the end of the next day, but they got what they wanted and the moody skies made for some truly dreamy portraits.

All in all, even with a hardcore pivot in the heat of the moment, Rachel and Jeff’s day(s) became so much better than any of us could have imagined. I ALWAYS reserve the day before and after an elopement exactly for situations like this, this was simply the first time I actually had to use it 😅 Wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Small town love is my favorite! 😍

Logan and Ashlyn live, work, and met right here in Bozeman, and hit all the highlights of the place they call home for their wedding

The was the perfect place for all to get ready together before heading up to the reservoir where they held their intimate ceremony. They danced in the mountains, toasted to their future together, and heard back down for their small reception at , the place where it all began.

Treeline has been my go-to coffee since before they were ever Treeline (Little Red Wagon Coffee, anyone?) and getting to create lasting connections with folks who frequent, or work, there has been one of the many reasons I keep going back. I think it’s safe to say these two feel the same. 😉

I do love a good Meet Cute, I’ll have to share my own someday soon! Anyone else have a fun one they want to share? How did YOU meet the love of your life?!

Proof that a smoky day won’t ruin your photos!

If anything, it’ll enhance them. Soft, warm, and diffuse is such a dreamy combo ♥️

Wildfires out west are always a concern when planning a wedding of any type and with the lack of snow this winter, this summer has the potential to be a smoky one.

Don’t let that scare you! Working with me means you have backup dates, Plans A-Z, and over a decade of photographing in every condition so that you, your day, and your images all get the best possible outcome, no matter what.

More than the epic landscapes and how gorgeous you looked, I want you to remember how it all felt.

The way waterfall spray cooled your skin and the rush of the air through your hair.

The dirt under your chucks that dyed them the color of glacial valleys, carved out over centuries.

The way green had a smell as you walked through ancient forests of cedars and hemlocks.

The lapping of alpine water along colorful rocks as you shared your hearts with one another.

Making wishes with puffed up flowers at sunset.

When you strip away what doesn’t matter and fully surrender to a day that truly belongs to you, the magic that unfolds results in real, raw, honest moments that will never go out of style.
