Jesslyn Marie Photography Backcountry weddings for the wildly in love. Because you deserve the wedding you actually want. Helicopter rides above glaciers.

Having witnessed first-hand those who have felt constrained by the expectations big, traditional weddings, I understand the desire to do things differently. You don’t want the same old thing wrapped in shiny new packaging — you want something that reflects who you are as a couple. If you’ve been needing someone to tell you that you have permission to rise above the status quo to create a wedding e

xperience that is unapologetically you ...

You have permission. By choosing to elope, you are making the decision that your day is all about YOU by incorporating the things you love most — outdoor adventure and each other. Weekend excursions to remote alpine lakes. Simple day hikes to favorite locales. The sky is the limit and I want you to have the most unique, adventure-seeking wedding day that you never knew you could have.

When the weather doesn’t cooperate, we pivot. ⤵️

Rachel and Jeff planned their day around a few key locations in Glacier, starting with an intimate ceremony on Lake McDonald after sunrise, followed by a jammer bus tour (iconic!) to the top of Logan’s Pass.

The original plan was for the three of us to then go on a hike to Hidden Lake while the guests ride back down to take a scenic boat tour on the lake; however, Mother Nature had other plans. When we arrived at Logan’s Pass, you couldn’t see more than 20ft in front of you, it was windy, cold, and raining. Nobody was going to have a good time.

I could see Rachel’s heart drop, so I made the call: I’ll go up to the visitor’s center and use a phone to cancel our shuttle ride (no cell service up there), we’ll ride back down with everyone, go in the boat tour, and I’ll take the two of them out again the following day to get photos in the places they really wanted to experience. That shifted the energy for the rest of the day!

We all had a blast hanging out together in the park, and eventually made our way back to the AirBnB they were all staying at for a four course meal prepared in home by (amazingly delicious!).

We still ran into some weird weather at the end of the next day, but they got what they wanted and the moody skies made for some truly dreamy portraits.

All in all, even with a hardcore pivot in the heat of the moment, Rachel and Jeff’s day(s) became so much better than any of us could have imagined. I ALWAYS reserve the day before and after an elopement exactly for situations like this, this was simply the first time I actually had to use it 😅 Wouldn’t have had it any other way!

Small town love is my favorite! 😍

Logan and Ashlyn live, work, and met right here in Bozeman, and hit all the highlights of the place they call home for their wedding

The was the perfect place for all to get ready together before heading up to the reservoir where they held their intimate ceremony. They danced in the mountains, toasted to their future together, and heard back down for their small reception at , the place where it all began.

Treeline has been my go-to coffee since before they were ever Treeline (Little Red Wagon Coffee, anyone?) and getting to create lasting connections with folks who frequent, or work, there has been one of the many reasons I keep going back. I think it’s safe to say these two feel the same. 😉

I do love a good Meet Cute, I’ll have to share my own someday soon! Anyone else have a fun one they want to share? How did YOU meet the love of your life?!

Proof that a smoky day won’t ruin your photos!

If anything, it’ll enhance them. Soft, warm, and diffuse is such a dreamy combo ♥️

Wildfires out west are always a concern when planning a wedding of any type and with the lack of snow this winter, this summer has the potential to be a smoky one.

Don’t let that scare you! Working with me means you have backup dates, Plans A-Z, and over a decade of photographing in every condition so that you, your day, and your images all get the best possible outcome, no matter what.

More than the epic landscapes and how gorgeous you looked, I want you to remember how it all felt.

The way waterfall spray cooled your skin and the rush of the air through your hair.

The dirt under your chucks that dyed them the color of glacial valleys, carved out over centuries.

The way green had a smell as you walked through ancient forests of cedars and hemlocks.

The lapping of alpine water along colorful rocks as you shared your hearts with one another.

Making wishes with puffed up flowers at sunset.

When you strip away what doesn’t matter and fully surrender to a day that truly belongs to you, the magic that unfolds results in real, raw, honest moments that will never go out of style.

Idaho never looked so good until these two ladies showed up! Dressed to the nines, Lauren and Jamie had an intimate ceremony on a rocky lake shoreline with just their beloved dog, Thor, and two close friends present. We later hiked to one of their favorite ridge lines and they toasted to the next chapter in their lives together.🥂

Simplicity at its finest where your love shines the brightest ♥️

When your sister asks if your hair is thick enough to do a random trend, of course you oblige her curiosity. I think I’ll stick with my messy bun, thanks 😂🫠

Photographing friends is always one of the biggest honors, especially when those two are professional photographers themselves (no pressure, haha!).

I am so grateful to have Jessica and Ryan in my life, despite whatever geographical distances may exist between us; time spent with these two is always cherished and never wasted and those who are lucky enough to be in their lives would agree. Their wedding day this past March may have been a bit chilly and a tad on the windy side, but Montana never disappoints. Hot springs, historic hotels, small towns, mountains, rivers, bridesmen and groomswomen, and the cutest surprise photobomb that almost took out the whole wedding party (swipe to see). What a beautifully intentional day to celebrate their lives together and here’s to many, many more years of adventure and art! 🥂

Adventure elopements don’t have to include hard hikes or daring sports. Sometimes it’s a leisurely day-date with your best friend, enjoying a scenic drive, having a private picnic on a river beach, strolling through cedars and hemlocks, and topping it off with your favorite shake on the lake.

(Also, peep the close up of the groom’s socks! 😂😍)

Making this day happen exactly how we planned included me meeting up with the permit officer the night before in a grocery store parking lot after hours because, even though I’d followed up numerous times in the months leading up to the wedding day, someone in their office let this one slip through the cracks and I was not about to give up without a lot of phone calls and persistent nagging. 😉

Further proof, if you needed any, that I WILL do anything and everything in my power to make sure your day is flawless — these two traveled all the way from Germany to celebrate and I wasn’t going down without a fight!

What could you do with 12+ hours of photography coverage for your elopement? Alison and Isaac have a good idea, and it was beyond epic!

We did an 8 mile hike in the morning with gorgeous sunrise views and a too curious big horn sheep, followed by a family brunch at the lodge before carting everyone to the ceremony location in the famous Red Jammer Buses of Glacier National Park. By the lake with mountains in full view, these two promised themselves to one another surrounded by their closest friends and family and live cello and violin performances.

The evening reception had a Polaroid guest book, music, delicious food and drink, dancing, and almost two hours of toasts and speeches (these two are VERY loved and it showed!!). From start to finish, it was just such a wonderful adventure, fun, and love-filled day.

And, for the record, I would like to take a moment to say how positively dope Alison and Isaac are. They are incredibly talented professional musicians (cello and piano) who work hard, play hard, and love harder. I feel honored to have spent so much time with them and all of their truly amazing friends and family!
