When the weather doesn’t cooperate, we pivot. ⤵️
Rachel and Jeff planned their day around a few key locations in Glacier, starting with an intimate ceremony on Lake McDonald after sunrise, followed by a jammer bus tour (iconic!) to the top of Logan’s Pass.
The original plan was for the three of us to then go on a hike to Hidden Lake while the guests ride back down to take a scenic boat tour on the lake; however, Mother Nature had other plans. When we arrived at Logan’s Pass, you couldn’t see more than 20ft in front of you, it was windy, cold, and raining. Nobody was going to have a good time.
I could see Rachel’s heart drop, so I made the call: I’ll go up to the visitor’s center and use a phone to cancel our shuttle ride (no cell service up there), we’ll ride back down with everyone, go in the boat tour, and I’ll take the two of them out again the following day to get photos in the places they really wanted to experience. That shifted the energy for the rest of the day!
We all had a blast hanging out together in the park, and eventually made our way back to the AirBnB they were all staying at for a four course meal prepared in home by (amazingly delicious!).
We still ran into some weird weather at the end of the next day, but they got what they wanted and the moody skies made for some truly dreamy portraits.
All in all, even with a hardcore pivot in the heat of the moment, Rachel and Jeff’s day(s) became so much better than any of us could have imagined. I ALWAYS reserve the day before and after an elopement exactly for situations like this, this was simply the first time I actually had to use it 😅 Wouldn’t have had it any other way!
