July 12, 2017 We had arrived in Paris that afternoon, and I decided to take my camera on an evening stroll from our downtown hotel.
I found my way to the Eiffel Tower, and spent an hour or so climbing the (too many) stairs to the first observation level and grabbing a few--mostly forgettable--shots of the Paris skyline from that vantage point. As dusk approached, I headed back down and grabbed a few shots of the tower under lights from ground level.
As luck would have it, my timing put me right at the Blue Hour, and almost as I was about to leave, I happened to look straight up from the plaza beneath the tower, and saw what you see here. Never forget to look around!
This is the full DX frame capture, tweaked a little in Lightroom, but uncropped.
