Here is the August image from my 2026 annual Nature Photography Calendar. Fern Canyon is a magical place located in Redwoods National Park along far northern California's Pacific Coastline. The canyon walls extend some 50 feet in height along Home Creek and are covered with a variety of fern species and is home to additional flora and fauna that thrive in the wet, mostly shady canyon environment.

You might recognize Fern Canyon from the movie, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" as well as others filmed here over the decades.

The trail along Home Creek is relatively flat and extends a little over a mile in a loop. Access is controlled by reservation during the busy summer months but is otherwise open year round.

If you get the chance to explore this wonderful place, I encourage you to do so!

Here is the July image from my 2026 Annual Nature Photography Calendar.

This lovely image was taken in Washington, near Paradise on Mt. Rainier's southeast flank. The Fireweed blooms in a distinct, almost "hot pink" color which contrasts beautifully against the deep greens of the wooded valley in the background.

If you have never had the opportunity to visit the alpine parks and meadows of Mt. Rainier in the mid to late summer, you should really add that to your bucket list. The variety and colors of the wildflowers that bloom at these higher elevations are simply stunning! To walk through these meadows, brimming with wildflowers is almost heavenly!

Here is the June image from my 2026 Annual Nature Photography Calendar. This photograph was also featured as this year's cover shot.

Just north of Brooking, Oregon along the Southern Oregon Coast is the Samual H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. This area contains some of the most beautiful views along this section of coastline.

This photograph was taken near Harris Beach at the far south end of the corridor. This particular sunset provided great colors, clouds and nice reflections on the beach during a relatively calm evening. I just liked the way it all came together in this simple shot...

Here is the May image from my 2026 annual Nature Photography Calendar.

This simple scene was captured at the Crescent City, California harbor during a Field Photography Workshop hosted by myself and my late partner, J. Gunther.

I loved the juxtaposition of the single Calla Lily, fresh and vibrant alongside the weathered piling and rope. The complimentary colors of the adjacent wildflowers add life to the scene as well.

John and I both loved photographing scenes around harbors, docks, shipyards, old boats, etc. He was a true mariner at heart...

This scene was captured in the desert of Western Arizona while out on a SXS ride with friends. This particular canyon offers a diversity in desert flora and fauna. The wildflowers, ocotillo, saguaro, vivid sky and rugged rocks created a pleasant composition that came together well. Enjoy...

This is the March image from my 2026 Annual Nature Photography Calendar. "Golden Hour at the Golden Gate" was taken early one morning as the fog layer burned off the Golden Gate Bridge that spans the entrance to San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean.

This view from the Marin Headlands provides the iconic scene of the north tower as it disappears into the glowing fog layer above...

Here is the February image from my 2026 Annual Nature Photography Calendar.

This whimsical image was taken after a snowstorm at Lake Tahoe many years ago. I loved the snow-filled, heart shaped cutouts in the shutters and their contrast with the dark brown logs of this old cabin.

I thought it was the perfect image for the month in which Valentine's Day falls. ❤️

The snow gets deep in the conifer forests around Lake Tahoe. I have always enjoyed the way the snow contrasts the rough, red bark of the trees and creates these magical scenes...

This image was taken in Ward Canyon along Lake Tahoe's West Shore after a fresh snowfall added to the already deep snowpack...
