I miss hugs. I'm guessing most of us do. I feel really fortunate to have people in my life that I get to hug and kiss every day but how exciting will it be when we can go back to casually hugging friends? And what about handshakes? Necessary or gratuitous? (I'm going with the latter.)

Petty quiet around here - In terms of things to post on Instagram anyway. Our kids are still distance learning so the house feels full and messy most of the time 😂 Grateful for snowboarding on the weekends and looking forward to getting away to the coast on spring break. Also, I had so much fun with this local mama who is starting a music school! I’ll post more info once she has everything up and running.

It’s been a quite a year trying to be this one’s teacher and playmate - both of which can be exhausting. But I’ve loved this extra time with her and she’s loved this extra time with screens 😂 Anyone else have a kid who will watch the same shows over and over and OVER?

We're suddenly at the point where I'm wondering if we will get all of my favorite holiday traditions done before Christmas arrives. And for some reason I decided to add in some extras 😂We have gingerbread houses to decorate, gifts to make, Christmas lights to see, cookies to bake, shopping and wrapping to do... and so many movies to watch! We started with "Elf" which is my favorite and now I'm pushing for "Christmas Vacation" which isn't entirely appropriate but so damn funny. What's your favorite Christmas movie? Or your least favorite if that's more fun. I think mine is "Rudolph" - I just find the characters so annoying. 😳

It came to my attention today that our local ice skating rink won't be operating this year. It's simply one more small disappointment on top of many that are much bigger, and in the grand scheme my family is incredibly fortunate to have jobs, a warm home, gifts under our tree. But damn, ice skating was something both of my girls were really looking forward to and our options for family activities that everyone is interested in are in a free fall. This one right here is a full-on tween and wants to spend her time wrapped up in her favorite blanket working on scripts and Minecraft and watching youtube. The days of playing Lego with her sister are, for the most part, over. And I can't help but wonder if by next year she might not want to go ice skating with her little sister either. It will be ok but it's hard on my mama heart. So I'm doubling down on gratitude and being present. (Also wrapping presents. I might have to triple down on that one. I swore I wouldn't wait until Christmas eve this year 😆)

Who's sending holiday cards this year? 2020 has been a lot of things and I've seen some really funny cards out there that reflect just what a terrible/weird/unusual year it's been and I know we're all hopeful that 2021 will be monumentally better. This fierce little spirit turns six tomorrow. Six. How the hell did that happen? Is it just me or does the difference between five and six seem immense? Five sounds... Little. Snuggly.
