At Barnwell Photography we specialize in studio product and portrait work, location photography of travel and tourism destinations, architectural interiors/exteriors, as well as factory and industrial images. We also offer business and family portraits done in the studio or on location. Our 2,000 square foot studio has 14-foot ceiling heights for large products. We can provide digital images (or film) in color or black and white for web or print reproduction, as well as high quality prints for portraits and portfolios. Cameras formats available include digital, 35mm, 2 1/4, and 4 x 5 large format. Our knowledgeable staff can help you manage your digital files and help you transition to the world of digital imagery. Found a beautiful tree when out the other day. Sat and watched the light move up as first the base, then up to the top, moved into shadow as the sun set over a couple of minutes.

A red shouldered hawk was sitting next to our car when we walked out. Right on very busy street. Kept an eye on us but less than six feet away and stayed there for several minutes as we stood still and took phone photos.

A view of the Superstition Mountains near Phoenix from our recent trip. Hot day but great picnic shelters there at the Lost Dutchman State Park to have lunch and enjoy the view before some short hiking explorations.

One of our last stops in Arizona was the small community of Tortilla Flat, one of the last stagecoach stops on the Apache Trail out of Phoenix to Canyon Lake. Just a few buildings but great bar and restaurant covered with dollar bills on every wall in the place. Fun tourist stop but very steep narrow and windy roads with mostly 15mph speeds to get there.

Visited Saguara National Park, a new one to add to our list. Split into two parts, east and west of downtown Tucson. Wonderful Saguaro cactus of all shapes and sizes. old. First 15 years they grow up in the shade of other shrubs like Mesquite and don't start growing arms till 75 years old.

The Spanish Catholic mission at San Xavier del Bac south of Tucson is an amazing building. Unfortunately for us there was scaffolding over the front entrance so not very photogenic as hoped but the inside is stunning and we had a great visit. There are so many details to absorb and to think of the time and skill it took to create these walls is hard to imagine. Known as the White Dove of the Desert construction started in 1783.

Arrived in Tucson and winds were sustained 25 to 35mph with gusts to 50 all day. Sky turned white with dust. Rather than hiking in Saguaro National Park as planned decided to walk around in some of the Barrios and photograph colorful houses, murals and signs.

You can't go to Sedona without seeing Cathedral Butte. It's even on their Arizona license plate! Hiked in to a different spot than most of what I've seen and I guess all the rainy days paid off with pools in the slickrock to use for reflections.

The rain cleared for a few minutes at sunset and the storm clouds lit up with late afternoon sun outside Sedona, AZ. Beautiful evening.
