Do you think wedding photography is a right or a luxury?

I’ve seen a lot of conversations lately about photography pricing and whether photographers should charge less so more people can afford it.
The truth is, wedding photography is a luxury. Not everyone is going to be able to hire the photographer they want, just like not everyone can buy the house they want or drive the car they want.

What makes photography a little different is that it is tied to memories. That’s where these conversations get complicated.
I don’t think photographers should feel guilty for charging what makes sense for their business (or even an amount they can’t technically “justify”).

This is art, and there has never been one correct way to price art.

Some photographers want to work with “luxury” clients. Some intentionally keep their prices lower to be more accessible. Both are valid.

What do you think? Is it unethical to charge “too much” for photography?

This is Sean and Lex.

One comment, like, or share could literally change their lives.

We have photographed these two a bunch of times now. Their mountaintop elopement, traditional wedding, several couples sessions.

They are not just clients to us anymore. They’ve become friends. People we have had the honor of watching love each other through some of the happiest moments of their lives. And literally two of the kindest, most genuine people we know.

And now they need help.

In 2019, Sean was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a kidney disease that slowly changed their lives. After years of appointments, treatments, and trying to hold onto normalcy, Sean now needs a kidney transplant.

They are looking for a living kidney donor.

That is obviously a huge ask. But sometimes the right person only sees the story because someone else decided to share it.

So we’re asking our community to help this reach as many people as possible.

You do not have to know Sean and Lex to care.
You do not have to be ready to donate to take the first step.
You do not even have to know if you qualify.

There are several ways you can help:

1) First is to SHARE, comment, and repost. Get this in front of everyone!

2) There also is a questionnaire that you can fill out to learn more and see if you could potentially be a match. If you comment “KIDNEY,” we’ll send you the link.

3) If being a donor isn’t an option for you, supporting Sean and Lex financially is a great way to help ease this burden for them as Sean continues to get medical care. If you comment “SUPPORT,” we’ll send you their gofundme link.

These two have trusted us with so many pieces of their story. Their elopement. Their wedding. Their memories. Their love.

Now we’re hoping this part of their story reaches the right person.

Sometimes, you just immediately click with people. Jake + Maddy were some of those people for us.

Jake had planned a surprise proposal on top of this mountain, and everything went perfectly for the hike!

A few weeks ago, we hid on top of the summit where Jake was going to propose. After miles of hiking, he gave the signal, dropped to his knee and she said yes. We could immediately tell how chill + in love these two were, so taking photos of them was legitimately so effortless. Thank you both for trusting us to capture your engagement - we had the best time with you!

(And yes, I did take a longggg nap after my hitting my PR for this 10 mile hike😅)

We are so pumped to officially be ambassadors! We have been using VSCO Workspace (their client management system) for almost 10 years + it has truly become the backbone of our entire business.

They also have so many creative tools for photographers, like Capture (the camera app we use for most of every day life), Studio for photo editing, Galleries for photo delivery, Canvas for mood boarding, and more.

No bc I’m obsessed with these photos 🙌🏻 Nick + Kristina eloped with us on Friday here in Pennsylvania, and we had SO much fun with them.

They wanted their day to be lowkey and stress-free (our fav kind of day) and other than scrambling to get out of a sudden downpour in the middle of the day, everything about it was super laid back.

And what makes us love clients like N+K is how they just rolled with the punches even when it rained. They were still having a blast even as their wedding cake got soaked, with icing splashing all over Nick’s jacket as he tried to save it from the rain 😂

A huge congrats to these two. Thanks for trusting us to capture this day for you 💕
