Sam and Ryan chose the Oregon coast because they wanted a wedding day that felt like them: relaxed, meaningful, a little adventurous, and completely free of unnecessary stress.

So yesterday looked like celebrating at the overlook after saying vows at Ecola Viewpoint. Wildflowers, ocean air, windswept portraits, and family gathered from all over the country. A dress covered in tiny florals. A burgundy suit that somehow matched the coast perfectly. Games at dinner so strangers could become friends. And two people who couldn’t stop making each other laugh all day long.

They told me they wanted their photos to feel candid, spontaneous, playful, silly, and goofy and honestly, they made that part easy.

Just good people, good food, good views, and a wedding day that felt entirely true to them.

Some weddings are planned over the course of a year.
Others come together in a matter of weeks and somehow feel exactly as they were meant to.

Kate and Brent’s intimate wedding at Silcox Hut on Mount Hood was one of those.

The weather didn’t hold back…rain, sleet, snow, wind, and fog rolled in all at once. But what stood out wasn’t the storm. It was the way their families showed up. The way everyone leaned in. The warmth inside the hut, the laughter over drinks, the quiet, meaningful moments that unfolded without rush or expectation.

A simple ceremony. A shared dinner. An evening centered entirely around the people who matter most.

Proof that a wedding doesn’t need perfect conditions to be unforgettable, it just needs intention.

Silcox Hut is one of the most unique wedding venues in Oregon, especially for couples drawn to an experience that feels both elevated and deeply personal. Accessible only by snowcat in winter, it offers something rare: a sense of separation from everything else, where the focus naturally returns to connection.

Kate and Brent, thank you for trusting me with something so meaningful, especially on such short notice. Your day was a reminder that the most powerful stories are often the simplest ones.
