You can literally just decide that this version of your life deserves photographs.

Wear the clothes that feel like you. Bring me to the field behind your house, your favorite bar, the diner you always end up at, the lake you spend every summer at—or let me find somewhere that feels right for the two of you.

We’ll make some photographs intentionally. We’ll f**k around for the rest.

I’m gonna say something, and it might seem harsh.

👏 Just because they are your friend or family doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay them. 👏

I’m genuinely so exhausted by the expectation that because someone is a friend or family member, their work should automatically be free.

There is a HUGE difference between someone choosing to gift you their service and you asking them to work for you without ever offering to pay them.

And I know this happens to so many service providers, artists, and small business owners—and honestly, it’s pretty f**ked up when you really think about it.

Wouldn’t you rather give your money to someone you genuinely love and want to support than a stranger?

When someone gives you their time, service, expertise, and product for free, they aren’t just “doing you a favor.” They’re giving up time they could have spent with a paying client. Their friendship with you doesn’t make their work less valuable.

Support your friends.
Support your family.
Pay them for their work.

And if they decide to gift it to you? Let that be their gift to give—not something you expected to receive.

Respect your friends and family.
Draw the hard line.
Set the boundary.
