I really didn’t have losing the ability to use my right arm on April’s bingo card, but still got to check that one off 🤪😵‍💫

Besides that — April was full of pony snuggles, new friends, business developments, and honestly just a lot of reflection.

My hopes for May? Less “Grey’s Anatomy” vibes, more trail rides, please!

Stetson’s Go-To-Granola 🐾

When this wild smoosh wanted to zoom around instead of posing with his mom, this snack was all it took to regain his focus! Sometimes it takes a little bribery to get the perfect shot, and often time the silliness from the outtakes end up being my favorite moments from photo sessions.

Stetson’s love of treats helped me capture some pretty special memories for him and his mom - zooms, drool, and all. 🥰

I could’ve said “have stronger contracts” or “get a bookkeeper earlier” but those weren’t the things younger me needed to hear most.

There’s a long list of lessons I’ve learned since starting HHM, both personally and professionally, and while those tangible lessons are incredibly important to the art of staying in business….the inner-work lessons have stood out to me over the last few years.

Most folks who have been in business can tell you to adjust your pricing, contracts, etc. You can take that advice, fix the things, and move on. Lesson learned ✅

The things I’ve listed in this post? Those are a bit different. These are lessons I couldn’t have learned without dipping my own toes in the water. And they’re all ongoing lessons or things that I have mentally struggled with.

Some things you just have to go through on your own. Not because you should “suffer through” but because you are the only one who can experience it in the way you need.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about what you might want to tell your younger self? I bet it’s not “do more laundry” 😆

🩵 Special Horses Series 🤎

The Girl on Fire aka Adara (aka Glitter aka Old Grey Square aka Mamma)

12 years ago today, I met a horse that would end up changing my entire life. Adara was a young and fiery OTTB when we met. I was a junior in high school and had almost as many opinions as she did. 

Adara and I spent 7 years growing up alongside each other. She would gray out, become a mom to 3 beautiful foals, and would mellow out (sorta). I would get a bit taller, learn some harsh lessons, and ultimately gain some maturity. Our 7 years together weren’t without bumps or bruises (or torn ligaments, broken limbs, or broken hearts) but I think we somehow managed to be a soft landing for each other. 

There’s a lot I could say about this one, but I think it’s quite simple when it comes down to it - I wouldn’t be who I am today without her influence. 

It’s a special thing to look back on the memories I have with my Girl on Fire. While there are a lot of hard memories that come with our relationship, I mostly focus on the last few years we got together. They were quiet, joyful, and full of moments that make your heart feel right at home. 

It seems nearly impossible that it’s been 12 years since she confidently waltzed into my life. She’s been lodged in my heart since the first time I set eyes on her. I knew she was meant to be mine, but wow, I had no idea how special she would be. 

I’m forever grateful she chose me. And I am so privileged that I got to choose her right back. 🩵

Almost didn’t post this because I have imposter syndrome about my imposter syndrome...if that’s even a thing 😵‍💫

In all seriousness, this is something that I (and 70% of the population) battle with daily. It’s not easy to actively combat it, especially when you’re historically cruel to yourself, but dammit, we’ve gotta try.

Thank you to every single one of you who has given me the opportunity to add to my “Heart Horse Pride” screenshots - you are what keeps me going 🥰

The 3 “knock out tools” I include in this post are just the start of battling back, but I wouldn’t be afloat without them.

This is your reminder that you can do hard things, that you are talented (not just lucky), and that we need you and your uniqueness here. 🩵
