Today marks Plane’s Portraits’ 12th anniversary — and my 44th birthday. ✈️🎂
What started 12 years ago as a simple merging of two passions — my love for photography and aeroplanes — has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined.
Along the way, I’ve gained so much knowledge about both photography and aviation. I’ve learned to be more patient, to appreciate the moments that come our way, and to understand that sometimes, in life, we simply can’t get everything we want. But more importantly, it’s the people I’ve met along this journey who have become the greatest reward of all. Aviation has brought so many incredible people into my life, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
This past year has been a particularly special one for both myself and APP. From the AeroLens Project at Singapore Airshow, to the Singapore Airlines Trading Card Project, and now Sky Watchers with Changi Airport, each experience has given us the opportunity to work alongside leading members of the aviation industry. These collaborations have taught me not only the importance of working together, but also how we, as aviation photographers, can play our part in supporting and contributing to the industry we love.
For me personally, this year has also been a journey of growth. I’ve always been an introvert and naturally shy, but the experiences of the past year have pushed me far beyond my comfort zone. I’ve become more confident, more open, and perhaps even a little more extroverted when meeting new people.
And to all of you who have come up to me at airports, events or spotting locations just to say hi and introduce yourselves — I genuinely commend you for having the courage to do so. You may think it’s a small gesture, but it truly means a lot to me.
To my friends, teammates and everyone who has shared this journey with me, here are some moments from our past year together — selected from the seemingly endless ocean of spam shots we’ve taken. 😂📸.
Every photo represents a memory, a moment, and most importantly, people who mean the world to me. Thank you for every laugh, every adventure, every spotting session, every conversation, and every memory we’ve created toget
