Spring is officially here and the cherry blossoms are coming! 🌸 Which means booking is now available here for my weekend of minishoots!

I am SO excited for these. Last year these were really my first foray into photoshoots and while I loved how they turned out, I can't wait to see the difference a year of learning makes - and a better camera & lens!

Sessions are $100 which becomes credit for art - enough to pick ten social media resolution photos, five high-resolution, or whatever mix appeals. Or you can put it towards ordering a beautiful piece for your wall 🥰

Yes sessions are early morning this time but I promise it's when the lighting is best and it will be worth getting up for!

I have kept the 3rd - 4th October free in case the weather is terrible but let's all cross our fingers now for clear skies! Shoots will go ahead in light rain.

If there are enough people coming to Upper Hutt agility next weekend who are interested, I may be able to set up some slots around 3-5pm on Saturday or Sunday, so sing out if that's you!

Just the one day at DAWG for me on Saturday but I made it count with over 1000 photos 🫣 I said I was going to focus on the agility obstacles and as promised there are plenty of weaves, aframes, and running dog walks - this one was destined to be the cover photo from the second I saw it on the back on my camera 🤤

Sadly I did miss the seesaw so I'll have to try find it at Upper Hutt 😉

I actually remembered to get some BTS photos this time so make sure to check those out too in case I snapped you from a distance. I took some photos of some supporters filming runs because I recently saw someone commenting on an agility photographer's post in the UK that they loved a photo taken of their mum filming their run... but I did feel a little creepy so if you like them please give me positive reinforcement, if you don't like them I'll take the hint 🤣

Photos are here: https://fitztography17.pixieset.com/dawgagility/

50c for each photo sold will be donated back to DAWG to support my club 🥰

Reminder these are unedited. You may choose:
Sports edit - $7 base price, a quick and easy edit including cropping, straightening, colour correcting, easy and obvious distraction removal, and highlighting the dog's eyes if visible. These will be social media resolution - which you won't notice unless you're printing. Aiming for a 1-3 day turn around but max 7 days.

Art edit - $12 base price, an in-depth edit aiming to really highlight your dog and make them pop. Distraction removal where possible. High res for printing. Aiming for a 4-7 day turnaround, but max 14 days.

It's the first day of spring, which we all know means fresh beginnings. So it seems fitting that today my website is FINALLY live!

I have been putting in lot of hard work behind the scenes over the last few weeks, and there's still a few finishing touches (and pages) to put in place, but I simply couldn't wait any longer! I'm looking forward to it hopefully making things easier for you all to understand the process and book in a photoshoot.

I have decided to do things a little bit differently than most, so we'll see how it goes 🫣 My sessions are now all based around the experience, not a set list of final products. Instead, your session fee converts into credit that you can spend on whatever combination of digital files or physical artwork that you desire.

Because yes! I've sorted out how to do physical prints, and I have partnered with a top quality print lab for these, because if you're going to put art on your wall, I think it should be the best, longest lasting art it can be. I still have a few samples on their way, so I'll post about this again then when I have some examples to share 🥰

And why exactly did I need to get this all up and running for spring... because spring means flowers! Specifically... cherry blossoms!! I am so excited to be hosting some themed sessions in September, so keep an eye out for a booking form in the next week! 🌸

It's all so exciting and I have to thank those of you who have ever asked me to capture your dogs for allowing me to develop my skills & learn from them. It's been a real ride down memory lane picking photos to use on the website and I'm still in awe that I have now had a photoshoot session with over 80 dogs (and counting!). Oh, and if your dog is missing from the testimonials page... it's definitely not too late, just leave me a review on Facebook or flick me a message 🥰

Please go check out the website and let me know what you think! If you do have genuine constructive feedback for me, please message me - I'm open to it :)

Gracie in the ferns - how gorgeous is this little old lady?

She might be getting on in years but she is still full of attitude and she certainly let us know when she hadn't been paid adequately for her posing efforts!

Thank you for your trust Kim, it was an honour to finally meet your princess

New logo alert 🥹

I've wanted to update my logo for a while to something a little more mature, that also made it clear what it is I do. But of course as Fitz fell ill and the future became uncertain, the thought of replacing it with something new felt a little like replacing him.

When the card arrived from the vets after we said goodbye, they'd managed to capture the most perfect paw prints and I knew immediately that I wanted to use one for a new logo. His pawprint is a true piece of him, unique to him and now immortalised and carried on in my work for as long as I keep taking photos. One last little gift from him 🥹

It's been a long piece of work that has taken a few months: getting it scanned well enough (warehouse stationary was a fail and I had to find an art store), using photoshop to pull out every little bit of detail, and then trying to get a handle on Adobe Illustrator with no graphic design experience to turn it into a logo that worked well but still had enough detail that it was clearly his pawprint. I think I did okay - and thank you to all the people who put up with my endless iterations this week!

He might be gone but he'll never be forgotten

Four months ago today, I said goodbye to Fitz.

When he was first diagnosed with lymphoma, I made a little bit of a bucket list. One of the things I really wanted to do with him was take him to Queen Elizabeth park, one of our favourite places, and get some photos of the two of us at sunset.

Unfortunately that was a bit optimistic of me as it turned out we didn't have much more time together, and there was a crazy storm during the time we did have, so I never got those photos.

A few weeks ago I found out about another wee dog facing the same diagnosis, so despite a busy weekend and some bad weather I made those photos happen for them.

Thankfully the skies decided to settle and we got the most beautiful golden hour light. Wee Ollie was still feeling super happy and completely himself so we got to capture a little bit of everything - but most importantly, his connection with his person.

I'm so grateful I got to make these memories for someone else

I wanted to post something else tonight but unfortunately I have to say this after seeing three photos in the past week being shared without being paid for. Please please please do not steal photos. If you love it enough to share it, buy it.

I know times are tough right now but I put so much time into these photos and still deliberately keep my prices low because I believe everyone deserves nice photos of their dogs. It's really disheartening to then see that work taken for free. If you can afford a coffee you can afford the photo, and the photo will last much, much, much longer. If buying the photo would genuinely put you in financial hardship, message me. Just please don't steal.

On a happier note if you are waiting on photos to be edited I assure you I am working away - I'm just so so busy at work at the moment I don't have a lot of energy in the evenings and Dodie comes first, so I have had to be a little slower than my usual one day turn around. I should be caught up by the end of the weekend.

Thank you so much to all of you for your support, seeing you love your photos is what keeps me going 🥰

Here's a photo I took of Dodie a few weeks ago that I really love, because I didn't think it was fair for anyone else's dog to be associated with this post!
