First astro shot of the season! A little late getting started this year, nights are cold, I’m getting old, work and study have been sucking the soul from me…

But, I never regret a moment under the stars with my camera. Even if the results are medoicore 😆

Slowly working away at a few other captures during the Photographic Society of New Zealand national convention in Rotorua!

I had a few hours before my flight home to wander the city, so popped across to the lakefront gardens and boardwalk near the Novotel to follow the suggested photowalk (thanks Ann Hunn!). There were some lovely autumn colours and occasionly, some delicious light!

Visiting Kerosene Creek during the early afternoon on a Saturday on our field trip with Photographic Society of New Zealand for the National Convention was a challenge! The swim spots were busy, there were many unwanted ‘models’ to contend with… and I actually just wished I’d packed my togs and gone for a swim instead. In addition, I’d left my step down ring for my filter set (a small but vital piece!) in my jacket pocket back at the hotel.

This was the only semi-decent shot I managed in the 90-minutes here. This one involved holding the polariser in front of the lens and editing out a man who stayed in for far longer than health warnings would advise 😆

p.s I might add, we were there setting up BEFORE the man decided he wanted to swim infront of us, not weirdly intruding on his swim spot.

Victoria Battery was the largest quartz crushing plant for gold extraction in Australasia. An interesting spot for capturing shapes, textures and shadows in B&W!
