Sorry, no feature this week!
The business I had lined up wasn't quite ready to be the centre of attention. Not everyone wants the spotlight, and that's okay. We have a whole bunch of anonymous 'superheroes' doing great things, but that is a story for another day.
Truth is, I've been feeling a bit drained. And I think that's worth talking about, because every business owner knows this moment (we dread it, right?) You do your best work when your energy's high, but nobody can run on that forever. Eventually you hit a wall, figure out what's going on, make a bit of a plan to recalibrate, maybe eat 3 chocolate bars, have a cry, reach out to your emotional support buddy. Then we put our big pants on, and we carry on. Because if we stop, so do our businesses (no pressure๐).
That's not necessarily a low point. It's just business. The reset is as much a part of it as the hustle is. But not all of us have an amazing support network or know how to ask for help, patience, or understanding. That is a Hard and lonely place to be.
The thing that's made the reset easier for me this time. ๐๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐... (look out, I have claimed you!).
The businesses our Ripple has connected me with are some of the most aligned people I've met, and I don't think I'd have found them any other way. Knowing there are people in our corner who genuinely get it, that makes recalibrating feel a lot less like failing and a lot more like just what we do...
I don't think there is any shame in owning that and talking about it. But you know, Kiwi pride...
Owning a business is hard. Look at what we've all been through in the last six years, and we're still here, still going. The world's changing fast, and I don't think this is a time to sit back and wait for it to get easier. We make the change ourselves. That takes bravery, and it's a lot easier to be brave when you've got people backing you.
Kindness is the thing I feel most strongly about. Small action, done together, adds up to something big.

Support each other. Support our town. Make a Ripple.
