This is how real estate photography actually works 📸

Most people think it’s just a quick click of a button, but there is a whole science behind making a house look like a home on screen.

It starts with bracketed shots, taking multiple photos at different exposures so the camera can see what your eyes see, keeping both the interior and the bright outdoor view crystal clear instead of blown out.

Then comes the flash. We bounce light off ceilings and walls not to blast the room, but to neutralise weird colour casts from indoor bulbs and clean up harsh shadows so everything looks true to life.

Finally, all those layers get blended together in post-production so you get that crisp, magazine-worthy finish.

When Sandy won our photoshoot comp last month, we headed out to Shiloh Retreat in Wakefield to capture her stunning property🌿

Properties like this are a dream to shoot. From wandering the extensive gardens and hidden nooks to hanging out with the friendly goats and chickens, every corner has a story. We wanted our photos to capture that true sense of escape. Whether it is the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area primed for long summer evenings or the sheer scale of the grounds, our media is designed to help hosts stand out online.

When a property is this tied to its landscape, still photos only tell half the story.

We leaned heavily into video for this campaign because we needed to translate the absolute serenity of the space. Moving footage does the heavy lifting when you want to put a buyer right in the room. It lets them feel the scale of that open living area, trace the timber ceilings, and look straight out through the glass to the estuary.

Then we put the drone up to map out the wider landscape. Aerials are crucial for a spot like this. It’s one thing to say a property is well-positioned in your listing copy, but it’s much stronger to show exactly how close the property is to both the water and the local kura.

When you're marketing a bare block of land in a spot like Kaiteriteri, you have to show buyers what they are actually investing in. We build the narrative around the location so they can see exactly what their future weekends will look like.

For this section, we focused entirely on the atmosphere of the coast. We painted the picture using the bright rows of kayaks against the turquoise water, the gentle sound of the waves in quiet coves, and the stretches of unspoilt sandy beach. We made sure to capture the community feel too, showing kids playing, families eating ice cream, and people just relaxing in beach chairs and under umbrellas. It highlights that rare balance of absolute serenity and having great local restaurants right around the corner.
