Went out to Meremere Dragway Skid Pad (private event) for a few hours this morning after a mate from work asked me to bring the camera along and grab a few shots from his Birthday Skids.

The weather was a bit hit and miss, but it didn't seem to bother anyone. Plenty of smoke, plenty of action, and it looked like everyone had a good day.

After yesterday's rugby in Te Aroha, I decided to make the most of the afternoon and went for a stroll alone through the wetlands behind the fields.

Before long, I spotted this Tūī hanging out in a nearby tree. It was surprisingly relaxed and let me get incredibly close while it listened and called back to its mates higher up in the treetops.

It's moments like these that make taking the scenic route before going home worthwhile. Nature always has a way of putting on a show when you least expect it. 🖤🐦
