A picnic above Lake Wanaka, a couple who loves Tolkien, and views straight out of Middle Earth.

Both born in Christchurch, it made sense for Zahra and Matt to come back to say their I dos. As avid fans of the LOTR franchise, there was nowhere more fitting than the landscapes that brought that world to life.

Exchanging vows at snowy Lake Erskine and a luxe picnic at Coromandel Peak, it was an adventure to remember.

“The idea of a heli-wedding appeals to our mutual sense of adventure...
We’re excited about getting to see our home country from so many perspectives and to have a once in a lifetime experience.”

Heather has spent years capturing elopements for other people, so when she and Tim asked us to plan and document their own wedding day, it felt incredibly special.

They wanted something adventurous, thoughtful, and completely stress-free.

A lakeside ceremony at Kelvin Heights, a beautiful picnic overlooking Queenstown, and sweeping golden light on top of Cecil Peak to finish the day.

We took care of every detail, so when they arrived in New Zealand from the US, their only job was to soak it all in.

The result was a day filled with incredible scenery, genuine moments, and the freedom to be fully present with each other.

“Every emotion, every detail was captured so beautifully.” — Heather & Tim

There’s something about the season that changes everything.

The way the light falls softer.
The mountains look different.
The air pulls you closer to the person beside you.

Winter elopements carry a different kind of magic.

The feeling of stepping outside into the cold and having it take your breath away, in the best possible way.

Cassie & Brent at Deer Park Heights, taking a minute to actually soak it all in before heading back down the mountain.

A luxe picnic waiting for them, champagne on ice, Lake Wakatpiu spread out beneath them and absolutely nothing they needed to organise, manage or think about.

Just showing up, exhaling and enjoying the kind of moment that feels impossible to recreate once it’s gone.

Most traditional wedding days rush from one thing to the next.

But this hour, the quiet one after the vows, is the one our couples remember most.

For Jess & Nick, it looked like mist rolling through the mountains, champagne under canvas, a luxe picnic waiting beside the lake, and a duck that somehow became part of the story.

Space to breathe it all in together.

Jason and Kylie’s moody Lake Erskine “the moment” elopement was magical.

Fog rolling in, the mountains disappearing into the clouds, and everything feeling so surreal.

Lake Erskine is one of our favourite heli ceremony locations as it’s so private, sheltered and surrounded by mountains like a natural amphitheater.

We Love that Kylie went for a non traditional wedding dress which complemented her florals perfectly.
