Meet Lanita “Born to” Singh, one of the most poised and elegant models I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing.

Little did I know that when I popped in to Dice & Slice for a quick hello to the Canterbury cosplay crew that she would be there.

The personal story she told me that night was fascinating, and I can’t wait to video her so she can share it with the world.

And besides, I would love to know what she looks like under all that makeup!!!

To Lanita - Lanita Singh - she was the bride of Frankenstein with an Indian fusion twist that night.

To me she was something far more beguiling. An old soul channeling a transcendent character, telling her charmed tale with wit, wisdom and an equanimity one would normally expect in a yogic master.

Does her presence come through in the pictures? Or is it just my memory that gives the photos that magic glow?

🎭 THAT’S A WRAP ON GHOSTED! 👻❤️

The curtain has closed for the final time on Ghosted, and what a season it has been!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported Matuku Community Theatre throughout our 2026 season. Whether you joined us in the audience, volunteered your time, worked behind the scenes, or brought our characters to life on stage, you helped make this production something truly special. 🥹✨

To every audience member who laughed, sang along, shared a kind word, or spread the word about our show, thank you for being part of the magic. To our incredible cast, crew, volunteers, donating businesses and supporters, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Bumstone Cottage may be closing its doors, but this isn’t goodbye to Matuku Community Theatre. 👀

We’ll be back in 2027 with our next production, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements about our upcoming sign-up night. We’d love to see some familiar faces and welcome some new ones, too!

Until then, thank you for being part of our theatre whānau. ❤️

The intelligent, kind, driven and - in case it needs to be mentioned - beautiful model Elisabeth Levkovich Elisabeth Levkovich🤍 is a stunningly interesting person. Charming, unassuming, surprisingly humble for someone so incredibly accomplished with such a fascinating personal story.

BUT, put her in front of a camera, and ask to light her hand on fire and…watch out!!!

A “normal person” who has never lit up their hand like this would struggle to take their eyes off the flame.

Elisabeth, the consummate professional, never flinches, and never takes her eyes off the camera.

She holds your gaze, fiercely, even while holding a flame in her bare hand for the first time ever.

Stunning!

A huge thanks to Raman Kaur of RamanKaur MakeupArtistry who was the driving force behind this insane (and insanely fun!!) photo session.

Raman’s makeup on Elisabeth was awesome. Stay tuned, gentle viewer, and you will see more of it over the coming months!

It is so easy for us to forget that just a few generations ago, people with emotional problems were sent to a place known as “Bedlam”.

Literally.

Physical restraint was seen as compassion.

There were no medications. No talk therapies. No therapies at all, it seems.

Either you got “better” or you didn’t.

And then one man chose a path of compassion.

A woman realised the power of telling her story.

Of listening to the stories of others.

The old guard pushed back against these “dangerous” reforms.

But in that moment, a revolution began.

Come see the play “Talk” by Elmwood Players - the dramatised version of a true story about real people who helped change the world for all of us.

The play is only one act long, but in that short space of time it packs a punch!

Four viewings only, starting with Wednesday’s “pay what you can afford” showing.

Half of all proceeds will go to Thriving Madly, a charitable trust working to improve the lives and social acceptance of people with mental health, neurodivergent or other similar issues.
